Congrats to all, Bill,Laurierace, alliekat, Mo … Junior and LaurieP - and everyone else on your lovely youngsters. well done!

Great, great photos! These are beautiful youngsters all and a beautiful day for Devon HB! Laurierace, that is a GREAT profile pic for FB of Juliet! Ed Venture really looks GREAT! I hadn’t seen him in a while but he’s just taken a turn for the “Stunning!”

Well done, Mo! I wish I’d been there to see your two!

Alliekat/Worth a Shot - he looks fabulous! Congratulations.
Congrats to everyone else as well.
Laurie - I am amazed you are disappointed with a second place at Devon in your first year doing hunter breeding (other than the weanling class last year). I would be doing back flips if I were in your shoes.
Thanks everyone

I was very happy to be able to take a few shots of both Juliet and Ed Venture! I have never been to Devon before, so it was extra special to ‘know’ 2 of the yearlings showing! Congratulations to both Eddie and Juliet!

Thank you so much  you have no idea how much you made my night to see these pictures. Big thanks again

Congrats to all…I’m extra thrilled that a youngster I bred and raised won Best Three year old Non TB…Monticello (originally named by me as Impeccable). He’s a lovely youngster who was BYH in FL before I sold him to the Smiths!. He’s out of Claim to Fame’s full sister, Flawless ( appropriately barn named Devon)
I’m dying for some photos…haven’t received any good ones yet!!!

I am not the slightest bit disappointed with second place at Devon. I am disappointed she was about to win at Devon and blew it by acting like an idiot at the very end. If she had been second all along it would have been amazing but she wasn’t, she was first. If she would have stood still another 60 seconds she would have won. You don’t find being 60 seconds away from winning being a bit of a let down? Especially when the filly they bumped up won best young horse? Seriously? You can’t even make drama like that up.

I understand 100%. You’re human, good for you!

Heck, I was disappointed when Juliet was moved back to second. That filly just shines in the ring!

The thing about in hand classes is sometimes the smallest detail separates place winners.

After the second line is formed I’ve seen an animal that was in fourth put on top. On Pony Breeding Day (this year) one was moved up three or four places. I’ve also seen a second place winner become Champion.

Frequently, once they are put in the second line a judge has a better opportunity to really take a good look and if there are two judges they have a better opportunity to discuss, look and compare notes and opinions. Something that one judge didn’t like so much and the other one was okay with may have come into question, thus the move. They usually do allow for “baby behavior” as it’s kind of expected and understood but when there are two that you can flip a coin over for the win, that will (and should) come into play.

Any ribbon at Devon is a good ribbon.

I agree her behavior should factor in which pretty much means I am the one who failed her. In horse racing we call that “running out of trainer at the quarter pole”

I am jealous of all of you for even having a horse worthy of competing there!

Laurie, you know your filly is right in the top group where the winners shift from show to show. Devon is just another show. Not too many hunter babies do well at Dressage at Devon but Juliet placed near the top there, too, as well as getting top billing at the PA Futurity! She’s a total winner! Bring her to Warrenton!

No, my horse show budget was gone a long time ago. I can’t go into any more debt. I am going to take her back to the PA breeder’s futurity in the fall though. That is cheap and she may actually win another check!

Laurie, after reading this I went back and checked and I have a few seconds of video of your filly at the end of the class. She did move some but it wasn’t so bad. Would you like me to send it to you?

Sure, thanks! My email is winbobdarl@aol.com if that is easier.

There is no fail. She was 2nd at DEVON. She is also a yearling and I’m guessing might have less show/road miles then a few of the others. She is a lovely quality filly.

I can only pray that one of mine even simply stands/competes in that ring let along ribbons.

If I’m looking at the results correctly, Mo Swanson bred the winners of BOTH sections of the Young Hunter Under Saddle. Go Mo!

And Laurie, CONGRATS! You have a really wonderful filly, you should be nothing but proud!
Yup and they were easy to pick out as the winners as they walked in. I especially liked that Rhecipie

LOVED Brandon’s filly…a yearling winning BYH ! Reserve was a lovely yearling also.

Richard Taylor held it for it’s owner. By Rosenthal ~ http://www.hphanoverians.com/rosenthal.html

Did anyone happen to snag a photo of Smoke Tree Starlet? I saw somewhere that she placed 2nd in her 2yo division, would love to see a picture!
