The Devon Horse Show-Hunter Breeding Today!

Did anyone happen to snag a photo of Smoke Tree Starlet? I saw somewhere that she placed 2nd in her 2yo division, would love to see a picture![/QUOTE]

Who was handling? What color?

My pics are here: http://photosbychristolar.shutterfly.com/15622

She’s a palomino mare, marking described by the registry as “Star and stripe conjoined, ending in snip between nostrils, snip on lower lip; right fore half stocking to ankle in front to full stocking in back; both hind full stockings, lower outside, left higher in front.” From a little research, I believe Paul Maye (Maye Show Ponies) owns her, but I have no idea who is the handler.

Congrats to all! There were some beautiful youngsters out there!

I didn’t realize it until I looked at the pictures- was that Rodney Jenkins judging with Joey Darby??

Welcome back to the horse show world, Rodney! Don’t be such a stranger!

I doubt we will see him again. He was called in as a “last minute” replacement when Rick Francher turned out not to be eligible to judge, due to some obscure HB rule. He isn’t coming back to the business.

I remember talking to Rodney several years ago at the track on the eve of the Grand Prix de Penn National that I have attended for the past 22 years in a row and counting. I asked him if he ever went back and watched and he said no, he loved the objectivity of racing and had no desire to be part of that world again. I can’t wait until the next time I see him…!

That’s US!!!

That’s too bad. It’s always nice to see him. I’m glad nothing was wrong with Rick- I was a little nervous for a minute.

I actually was surprised Rodney still has his HB card. He could use it once in a while.

Was this in the ponies? I wasn’t at the pony day. Sorry. Wish I could have been. Kathryn Southard might have something.

Lovely!

Much as I enjoy perusing all of the photos, it’s fun for me to have pictures to put with names since I don’t know your horses.

Thanks!

(And thank you Chris, for letting us see your photos.)

Congratulations to everyone! Beautiful horses!

I am thrilled that one of the foals I bred won her 2 yr old class! Fleur du Rouet was the first foal out of my Corland mare Powder Coated and by Balou du Rouet!

A big Congrats goes out to Rachel, Junior and Laurie for doing such a great job with her! So proud!

Is this one an Apiro ?

Boy, I was a little worried my young horses were a bit fleshy. Now, after seeing the photos of some of these guys, I guess I don’t have that much to worry abouut!:eek:

Beautiful photos everyone!!

I don’t know much about the American line classes so this may be a silly question, but do you have to qualify for the HB classes at Devon?

No. Breeding is part of the non qualifying divisions. That said, I only saw one horse the entire day that had no business being there and that one was scratched by the vet for extreme lameness at the in gate so nobody abused the open policy in my opinion just so they could show a horse at Devon.

If anyone got good photos of Young Hunter, can you pm me? Thanks!

I showed in the young hunter u/s and looked through the pro’s photos and there was not one picture of my horse. Does anybody have any photos of the young hunters sect B?

Chris, as always… gorgeous photos!

I also noticed there were no photos of the PA Bred 3yo class at all…very disappointed.

Couture du Jour by Minster General and o/o Grande Desire by Grande Saber won the Three year old PA Breds.

Couture du Jour won the yearling filly class two years before! Couture du Jour had a bout of the baby bug a few weeks before so we scratched her from U/S classes. It was a toss up whether to bring her . She won and “rested on her Laurels” the remainder of the day. Trust me…if she was on her game the entire day would have gone well!

All horses I bred AND ALL Grande Saber grand-babies won or pinned in their classes…I was thrilled AGAIN!
Thank you Saber!

Here she is …the last photo is Couture du Jour as a yearling.
Chris, Thank you for the lovely photos!
