Ditto.
Is it this one: http://professionalauction.com/11ESHA.htm
There is a banner for this one that appears on this forum. I first noticed it earlier this week.
It looks like there are some really nice horses entered. Is anyone planning on going?
Wow, some really lovely horses. I’d love to have White Pearl! What a nice mover.
I am really keeping an eye on this and support it whole heartedly. If all goes well I plan to try and put at least one horse in next year, maybe more. I hope this works out and all involved are happy with the process.
Also, for all interested, there is a silent sport horse auction of young horses age 2 to 8 associated with Sacramento International Horse Show, November 1-6, 2011. There is good prize money for the 4 to 8 yr olds - about $20k or so- and there is a free jump session for the 2 to 3 yr olds.
What makes this venue especially interesting is this is a World Cup qualifier show and the best from the West Coast will be there. The idea of combining a sport horse auction with a top show venue worked well in Florida recently and may be a key to how the USA can get auctions for sport horses to gain better access to the buyers and to gain acceptance as a routine way to buy top horses here in the USA.
I, too, like the idea of combining a sport horse sale (not necessarily an auction) with a large show venue.
Any news of how this sale went? Too bad the weather was so awful.

The weather was awful and the forecast for even worse weather on its way so not well attended. A lot of NS’s. I think a gray from Chad Keenum went for 50K but not sure if it actually sold or was bought back. Many nice horses topped out for very little with less than 10K being top bids in many cases. It was disappointing. The sound eventually came on (I was watching online) but I never had the livestream to view. My own conclusion is that this is no way to market successfully - not yet, anyway. Don’t know how much the low turnout resulted from the poor weather. PAS auctioneer’s western patois doesn’t sell sporthorses as well as it might sell AQHAs, etc. in my opinion. It sounded pretty hokey and not matched with the quality of the horses.
I’m sure the weather made a HUGE difference! Heck, you couldn’t have paid me to get in a car today and I’m about 45 minutes away from the place. Timing is everything!
And I agree with DianeHalpin - Western patois just doesn’t go with “Elite Sport Horse Auction”…

That was also a problem with the Chestnut Lawn auctions. Maybe a Boston accent would be better?
What do you guys mean by ‘western patios’?
If you’re selling classy horses, you need to present them in a classy way. Presentation is a huge part of how one is perceived.
I’m leaning toward a Dutch or German accent, LOL!, in my dreams, but reserved unaccented English would be fine!

Yes, and “giddyup dawggie”, good ole’ boy type presenter really hurts IMO.

NOooooo!! Seriously? The auctioner should be wearing a suit and tie at the very least and make an attempt to play the part of upper crust gentleman if it doesn’t come naturally. Seems quite obvious to me.

In fact the Washington International Horse Show has been taking place all week about an hour from the auction. But If anything I think that hurt the sale.
