The good ones - BNTs

Just ride how you ethically want to be. You could also try Western Dressage as a nose out alternative

I watched Jan Ebeling teach a clinic a few weeks ago. He was very on the case of every btv, overbent, closed throatlatch, tight-necked horse. Up and open was the order of the day.

The times they are a-changing.

I saw the same at a symposium with Jeremy Steinberg and Allison Brock. There was one horse that was almost Grand Prix and they were on the rider’s case the whole time about not allowing them to be BTV.

I don’t see it every time but I have seen a decent amount of trainers talk about it.

The cynic in me wonders how much they are personally adamant and how much they realize a clinic is a public venue with a high likelihood of spectators/photo/video and don’t want to be documented allowing BTV during a space they are controlling.

You bettcha!!

His gist was that if you want to succeed in the modern dressage and show environment you must show more classically correct posture.

Most of these horses were not being cranked and held, btw.

I did a clinic with him years ago and he emphasized forward riding. My horse was not BTV. He was very correct in his teaching.
