The Mower Manifesto (can’t recall who gave it that name but it’s freaking brilliant) needs to be shared again for the edification of anyone new to the thread, or novices who might be looking for a trainer.

bahahahahhahaha I can’t believe I missed this first time around.

After watching the Mower Manifesto  , I have to admit, he’s right about a few things. I mean, when he talks of his accomplishments and says none of us have accomplished what he has…

I know I’ve never trained an Appaloosa to rear and pretended it was one of the ā€œairs above the groundā€, and I’ve never convinced my parents to buy me a sweet old broke to death OTTB school horse that I claimed to train to FEI level. And I’ve never had a beginner student judge me at a lesson barn schooling show where I pretended my horse could do 3rd or 4th level work. I’ve also never berated a show photographer for taking my photos and claiming they didn’t have permission. I’ve never, ever offered to do any free clinics…I got paid for those I taught. I haven’t made excuses for poor results by claiming the world had conspired against me. And the list goes on and on…he has so many accomplishments that none of us would ever hope to achieve.

The guy write his opus, and talks trash about COTH, and then he’s whining about push back from COTHers? Seriously? In other circumstances, best thing we could probably do is take up donations toward some serious therapy sessions, but I think it would be a waste of money here. Narcissists are tough to turn around.

He reminds me of Craig Stevens. Anyone remember him? Ultimate con man.

Let’s please keep the personal comments re: physical appearance, unrelated to his role in the industry or public activities, writing, etc. out of the discussion.

I just read Lauren Sprieser’s article about selecting a trainer. It share all about how to do the research. I’m no longer a member of USDF. Anybody who is want to see what they can find about the Maestro’s students?

Why? Whilst reading about Nick may make for a little entertainment on a boring Sunday afternoon, stalking his students hardly seems fair.

He has students ?

I strongly doubt he has/had any students who are or have been USDF members. The only thing in the USDF scores are his abysmal results from his one and only recognized show.

These results?

See! There you go! If you are hoping for scores like those, he’s your guy!!

I guess no minute rice risotto either…

Oh, come on now. You know that those results are biased and inaccurate. Don’t you remember how the judges colluded with us, the bathrobe-wearing hags of COTH, to tank his scores?

I have to agree. If someone wants to take lessons from him, so be it. They can do their research on the internet. His name comes up here on COTH enough.
I mean, I like a good train-wreck as much as the next guy. But if someone wants to hire him to be an instructor and doesn’t do their research, leave it be.
Now, if he was abusing horses, that’s another story altogether.

Why would anyone think he has students?

Because he said so? Bound to be true.
