The Maestro has written another book

An old but interesting read:

The internet is forever. How very sad for all involved.

Nah, a ā€œMary Sueā€ is where the author introduces a overly flawless character that is a thinly-veiled (often poorly) representation of themselves. Typically seen in fanfiction, i.e. Harry Potter stories with an OC character that saves the day, is misunderstood, is outrageously beautiful etc.

Thinkā€¦ Bella Swan. (Or Ana whatsername from 50 Shades).

Nick is a ā€œKnows Nothing Know It Allā€ trope (Obi Wan Can-Know-No-bi? A Gary Knew?)

A male Mary Sue is called a Gary Sue. Edward Cullen, this is your trope!

This is the part of the foreword in Nickā€™s book:

eta - clarification that this is part of and not the entire foreword.

I see that he got himself a new copy after he fixed the spelling error of Foreward.

Do you suppose he is at least thankful to the horrible Swamp Town for pointing out that error to him?

Fascinating that she mentions ā€œspoiled, rich horse peopleā€ā€¦as she purchased a very pricey horse herself from HW Farm and thanks her husband for financially supporting her. I donā€™t know about the rest of you, but I am far from wealthy and scrape and save for everything horse related that I do.
Iā€™m curious as to how she ended up connected with Nick. Seems odd, and she clearly did no due diligence before writing that foreword.

Illiterate people should not write books.

Whereā€™s this ā€œsecret social media groupā€? Why am I not in it?

Help! Iā€™m being oppressed!

Yeah, poor old Duke of the gaping mouth who was way too much for her. The packer chestnut she rode previously (owned by a pro) was prior to that owned by the sister of a poster on this board. His early event training fried him. The sister picked him up to jump the big sticks, which he did. Saw them several times doing well at Greg Best clinics and at shows. So so sad that he ended up at 20 yrs old at another event barn, and one with poor riding and coaching. I assign very little credibility to the ā€œlifelong passion for horsesā€ hogwash. Equally delusional as Lil Saint Nick.

Welcome to the dark side of the horse world.
Nickā€™s story about being bullied, harassed and stalked by fellow horse people is distressing to say the least.

I think we can agree on that, the verifiably (IMO) false accusations Nick has flung out at people involved in the dressage world has distressed many people.

Whatā€™s even more alarming is this abusive behaviour is seemingly condoned by some big players in the horse community.

Is there evidence of where big players have seemingly condoned this behaviour? I note the use of seemingly, which I believe it to allow a retraction should anyone take issue with a potential libel.

I have tried to come up with a sound explanation for Nickā€™s horrendous experience with a group he refers to as ā€œSwamp Townā€. They continually harass him to this day and have created their own secret social media group.

I wonder if she asked Nick how he found out about this ā€œsecretā€ group. Iā€™m sure the members of this open public forum would also like to know who they are.

My knee jerk reaction is to assume these people are your stereotypical, entitled, spoiled, rich, horse people.

Iā€™m slightly alarmed that a professional psychotherapist would attest to having a ā€œknee jerk reactionā€. I am not a psychotherapist, but my first reaction would be to explore why someone thought they were being persecuted, and to try and ascertain the facts on which this perception is based.

As I dig deeper,

I think weā€™d all be interested in how deep that digging went. Obviously the posts on this open public forum are available for anyone who cares to read them, together with all the links to openly accessible sites which hold information that people believe helps to disprove Nickā€™s claims to expertise. Access to the secret social media group may be more problematic, however if Nick has actually managed to infiltrate this group Iā€™m sure he would have been more than willing to share the info on his Facebook page.

I find it interesting that the profile of most of Nickā€™s abusers seem to be the average middle aged woman.

Iā€™d be interested to know what the definition of ā€œaverageā€ is in this context, unless she means that the ā€œaverage middle aged womanā€ is someone whoā€¦ā€¦

I cannot help but think that many of them have some sort of issue with men.

Iā€™ve read all the NP topics on COTH, I certainly wouldnā€™t have come to this conclusion, and I most certainly wouldnā€™t have committed this statement to print without having a lot of evidence to back it up. However she may be referring to the secret group that members of this public open forum do not have access to.

To intentionally and repetitively inflict psychological harm to a person also indicates a personality disorder.

Also indicative of a personality disorder is to make false claims to expertise, believe that professionals have been suborned to give you low marks, etc etc.

Studies show that stalkers typically have low self-esteem, and are often depressed, lonely, people who lack social skills.

Hmmmm.

Iā€™m a retired psychotherapist with a lifelong passion for horses. My connection with Nick is through horses and specifically a shared love for dressage.

In my opinion even a ā€œretiredā€ psychotherapist should be helping Nick to overcome his problems, not writing forewords that I believe will fuel his paranoia.

I will caveat this to say that I have no evidence that this foreword was actually written by who it is purported to come from and therefore all comments should only be taken as reflective of the statements made.

To balance his psychotherapist evaluation (though Iā€™m glad heā€™s been seeking help) of all this. This was his response to being fired for taking a day off, to call all his friends to harass his former employerā€¦

Shhhh! We meet every third Wednesday, on a rotating basis, in a Swamp Town memberā€™s basement. Iā€™ll send you the GPS coordinates for the next gathering.

Waitā€¦ If thereā€™s a secret group how come I havenā€™t been invited? Where is the secret group? And if Nick knows about it that means thereā€™s a mole, right? Oh my goodness, another mystery to solve.

Unless, maybe the secret group is in his imagination, because that is a wonderful thing to blame your woes on.

If the secret group has an entry fee, does the fact that I bought the book get me in?

The cool thing if you are Nick and complain about a super secret groupā€¦ No one can prove that there is not a secret group.
