Very interesting link. I remember this guy being big really big back when I showed hunters and then all of this going down. I personally have no respect for somebody that would kill a horse for insurance money. I also cannot believe that those Equus Medal finals would ask Paul V. to judge…how stupid is that!
I wonder why the insurance companies havent jumped on the no reinstatement bandwagon. Maybe its because they know it’s nothing but a bunch of tools.

The skating situation is also not unrelated to our problems in that we have seen some judges who start a horse with a high score based on it’s history and then add points or subtract points based on that day’s performance.
So some horses started the class with a score of say 80 and others started with a score of 40.
With all the trouble we’re having on this Reinstatement Thread, I don’t think it’s a good idea to get folks discussing the problems we all have with Judges/Judging practices That’s a good idea for another thread though

You have just lost ALL creditbility. If I were getting these “so- called emails” I certainly would have forwared and contacted Erin without a doubt!
We can have a healthy debate on this subject, but when threats and vial personal attacks occur that’s crossing the line and where it should stop. So are you contacting Erin? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
A comment such as that makes me lose all credibility in your eyes?
Wow.
You are ONE tough customer.
I would never be able to live up to standards such as yours…Damn…I though I was a pretty credible person up until now…
Thank You to all those anti-PV ers who have been respectful and complimentary despite our opposing view…I REALLY appreciate it!
Thanks, Harry, but I am serious as a heart attack: if it weren’t for Big Dawg this thread would have been long gone by now!
I raise my glass in a toast to the opposition.
Wonderful! I’m having a tough time with my eyes. They have changed and I just got the new glasses which are not helpful. My left eye has issues that create double vision; I can’t even drive.
I do have most of the magazine emails so I can easily send the release to them.
I don’t believe for one minute if it was proposed as Rule Change it would get any better a reception. In fact it is in my humble opinion that Article 706 sec. a and m cover the issue.
I’d sign it.
I think individually would pack more punch. Otherwise you are liable to get a group of people who are deciding who to reinstate, and they come up with a “compromise Verdict”, and dissallow the “little guys” and let PV and other bigger names back in. You know that the Bigger Fish will be doing lots of lobbying, and their supporters will be doing the same.
YEP! That’s the hole in the system. I think you have to file a protest and give the Steward $100.00. Most people feel let someone else do. In 35 years the only protest every filed at any of my shows was one for a pony measurement.
I asked these questions of Anthem many pages ago.
Schyler, I’m with you. But not because of PV’s (Who I know by reputation only) actions of the past, but because what I see here amounts to a veiled attempt to influence the Hearing Committee, and deny PV his due process. Courts of law try to prevent “mob influence” by giving high profile defendants such
The suspensions handed out were not limited, the suspended parties were given no “end” date, but had the ability to apply for reinstatement after x amount of years. The reinstatement is not guaranteed.
I’m having terrible problems responding o I apoligise if this is a 'repeat;. I STRONGLY opose any re-instatement of PV, have signed the petition and am re-reading the book Hot Blood and thru that book am reminded vividly what happened. I am sickened by what happened. I was in the past married to a h/j trainer who still claims success in Palm Beach as recent as today so I think my opinion is 'more than valid;

And by the way. This happened to my family. I don’t appreciate your saying we have a singular view-point.
Was your family one of the horse owners? Did you file for the insurance? Are you one of those involved? You can tell us, we are all forgiving, aren’t we?
mwe - that makes NO sense at all! Just because it was done STILL does not make it right - whether it was one or more than one it is still too many
yes, but also some of us grass roots folks believe in forgiveness and reparation and further believe in second chances–those who committed these crimes have already served their society penalties…they deserve to be able to get on with their lives without the singular view-point folks chasing them around forever…at some point, some of you need to find a new cause celeb, so to speak.
I understand that Harry. And I respond hoping to show them why we disagree as you do much more diplomatically. I hope not as many; I hope there are more of us!
You’re right of course and HONOR, RESPECTABILITY and INTEGRITY are all abstractions. I remember as I’m sure you do that originally with the rule book it was understood that if it didn’t say you coundn’t do something, then you could. On that basis I can understand why those who support PV believe he has not broken the rules at all.
That is the biggest weakness of our system and why the Rule Book is Volumes compared to “Those good old days”. I have a 1940 Rule Book which is not a half inch thick and included all the rules, all the past winners, all the officials and sanctioned shows.

There seems to be alot of posters on this discussion. Can we all try (again) to get this thread into wider circulation?
IMO, it would be better to spend effort trying to get the issue in front of more people than to respond to off-topic postings. Also, maybe if we absolutely ignore postings by trolls, they will not get the satisfaction of bugging us.
Trolls find trolls and since we are troll lying people we troll the lowest…or highest (http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Constitution_of_the_United_States_of_America)
of trolldom speak. Who rides with Paul Valliere or Paul Revere?
Bumping up for all those that were sittin on the fence… but needed a Broberry to make you sign on the dotted line.

If that is your definition of ‘the purpose’, can you at least acknowledge the fact that PV did spend weeks and weeks in Louisiana after the hurricane to help rescue horses and other pets?
Can you at least recognize what, in your own words was ‘an attempt to contribute in a way to show remorse’?
Many people helped with the animals (and people) in LA and MS after Katrina. Most did it because it was what we wanted to do and didn’t want (or care about) any publicity about what we were doing. Yes, PV did help out but it makes me wonder if he did it for the same reason many others did it or did he do it just to “score points”? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
So essentially he’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. If he volunteers, he did it to have a better chance at reinstatement, not because he really wanted to help anyone. If he doesn’t, he’s a shameless horse killer who has made no attempt at reformation. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Ummm - I posted somewhere to this point. I asked, essentially, if anyone knew of any other charitable acts that PV performed before the suspension, thus showing a pattern. If the pattern is NOT there, then what else are we supposed to think?
Maybe the facts are getting a little obscured by some of the personal feelings here.
I would sign a petition to oust a fire chief who torched a building for insurance.
As a member of the USEF and USHJA I signed to not reinstate a trainer who killed a horse to collect insurance.
Nothing to do with politics, right to life issues or Nazism.
Nothing personal.
