This is just way too big, isn't it?

The rain sheet wars continue and it’s getting expensive. I ordered a Buster rain sheet from Premier Equine and he looks like he’s wearing his big brothers clothes.

Chubby Fjord, measured 77" to center of tail, 74" to butt cheek so I ordered a75".

Hah! To me it looks way too big but I thought I’d see what others think.

I think I’d spend almost what I paid for it shipping it back so I’m out. I knew this would end badly but… Apparently I am an idiot.

Yes. You want that rear seam to end up no more than an inch or two down the tail. Otherwise it can interfere with lifting the tail to poop.

I was afraid of that.

Argh! Back to the drawing board. No more overseas purchases although I do wish Premier Equine had a blanket stockist over here. It’s a beautiful blanket.

Check the measuring instructions. I just had this SAME THING with a fly sheet. I measured and ordered the size closest. But actually the instructions say “measure center of chest to center of tail and subtract four inches.” WHY would they do that?!

You could fit 2 of him in that

I sure could fit two in the hind end. :joy:

@wsmoak, it said from center of chest to furthest point of buttock. It was 74, and he has a huge neck so I mistakenly thought an inch too big was better then two too small.

Long gussets like that will add length to the blanket. With a big neck you might find a blanket with a large range of adjustment at the chest closures and order a size or two smaller. This will allow you to increase the size of the neck hole (using a looser chest) without the body going back too far over the tail.

Maybe they thought you meant 75 feet?

I have a question: why is it that when WE (humans) buy clothes from overseas they ar always too teeny. But this - this is beyond huge. I mean, it borders on being a covering for a small house. Whhhhhyyyy?

That’s just a tiny bit too big… just a smidge. LOL

You could always contact the UK or Irish company and say you are after a rug for a Fjord as the horses generally come in “standard for breed” size.

I’ve learned my lesson. No more overseas purchases for me!

Shipping the darn thing back is 3/4 of what I paid for it.

:joy:

I was hoping someone would have a hack involving duct tape.

I did. sigh

I emailed them and told the chunky big neck dilemma and they said their sheets fit generously but to order according to size chart.

I had emailed Weatherbeeta a couple of months ago how their blankets fit and if they ran big or small and they said all that information was on their website.

Less than helpful.

I’ll be the odd one out, the blanket isn’t to big, the horse is too small

Maybe try to find someone local to buy the sheet rather than pay to ship.it back?
At least you’d recoup part of what you spent instead of spending more.
Measure what you received to see if it does measure as you ordered & to advertise the true size.

Weatherbeeta used to make a good quality product.
But I’m talking 30yrs ago & won’t vouch for them now.

Theirs is the only blanket my red mare didn’t destroy! So I would say still great quality until a couple of years ago for sure…

BUT, quality isn’t everything, customer service, or rather the lack of, or poor customer service, has me looking elsewhere pretty quickly

That wasn’t helpful at all. Our cobs can have chunky necks, not dissimilar to a Fjord, so plenty of rugs should cope with the neck issue. Did you mention Fjord or just asked about size?

I said a Fjord with a big neck and shoulders and needing a decent drop so he doesn’t have the mini skirt look.

I’ve put off inquiring about a Amigo XL because of the tail strap but I guess I’ll email them Monday.

He has fecal water syndrome and has loose manure along with it frequently and tail straps get gross fast.

I believe European rugs are measured from withers to tail along the back. Other places measure chest to rear of buttock. Could be wrong.

The size guide on their website said center of chest to furthest point of buttock.

Oh well, live and learn. They certainly are generously sized.
