Does “The Traveling Horse Witch” have her own barn or teaching facility, or does she just travel to other peoples homes/barns?
I am reminded of the guy who touted himself as “The Traveling Trainer”. “Traveling”, in that case, meant I-don’t -have -a barn -and I-don’t own-a-horse-I have no credentials-but-I-am -a-traveling-trainer- please- pay- me- to- have- a- vacation- at- your- home- barn.
No, sorry, proper credentials are required, period and stolen photos of other peoples barns will be (and were) noticed and called out.
Obviously, there are some very good horse people that give clinics, they come to you and don’t often teach at their private stables, however they do have horses and stables. They are the very accomplished, well known people.
When the “traveling horse witches”, or “maestros” , are “traveling” as they advertise themselves, travel because they don’t have their own facilities, it’s a Big Red Flag.
If you are considering paying anyone certainly for internet instruction or even for a clinic, do make sure they have students with a good reputation and a verifiable record and that the “trainer” actually owns (or is known for their horses in the past) horses that are healthy and well schooled, and that they have them at their training facility or their home.
Pretty photos of your Vulcan mind meld with a horse, while wearing a dress, shown on the internet doesn’t get it.
I think most of us remember the old “Rev” living illegally in some guy’s basement and ripping off aspiring dressage riders. He was horrible and easily outed, but the greedy goes on and apparently people are getting better at ripping off people who are trying to do their best for their horses.
You owe it to yourself and your horse to be better than this. Due diligence, do it.
