I’m not too pleased. I wish usef would’ve suspended her along with her mom, but oh well. Congrats I guess.
She was the best rider out there this weekend. The judges got it right.
Tubeapalooza did not give her the ability to ride like that. It was a well deserved win, and she makes horses happy. The tarring and feathering is getting old.
I’m not happy because I feel like not enough has happened after the drugging case. It was the same stuff that it’s always been. There was this huge case about Inclusive being drugged and everyone got (rightfully) upset that 1. They were cheating and 2. The horse was being drugged, but now what? Barely anything has changed. Tori’s showing again, of course on a Betsee Parker horse. She wins, blah blah blah.
I feel disgusted. At least her mothers suspension was upheld. Tori no doubt knew what was going on, and that alone takes away many of her achievements in my eyes. If you praise her for being hands on with her mounts, then you have to punish her for at least for riding a drugged horse.
I am just upset how barely anything has changed and we are all moving along like nothing has happened.

Things can’t change overnight.
Brigid was there screaming her head off as usual (her suspension was stayed a second time, probably until mid October). I am also disgusted by the whole thing/people but a) Tori rode great and was the hands-down winner, period; and b) there was a funny moment during the awards presentation when they called her something like “the 17 year old phenom”, which reminded me of mom’s NY court papers… I giggled.
I think Hunter had much better rides than Tori today, and is a much better eq rider in general. Tori chipped into the triple combination in her third round, chipped the second fence, then had to very visibly gun it to the third, leaving long. She may have completed it effectively, but it was neither pretty nor fluid, where all of Hunter’s rides looked more seamless. It really makes me wonder if our sport is too far gone to the deep pockets to be resuscitated.

Agree completely. I made a tubeapalooza comment earlier but mine is directed at BP not Tori.
Ugh, missed the add. Thanks for pointing it out.

Im not so sure Inclusive with his collapsed veins is happy. She has great riding talent but she cheated and should have been suspended and not eligible to ride in this class.

She cheated? Not according to the rules. She made her horse and the three other horses happy today. She earned her win.

Regardless of what any of us railbirds think “should have happened,” the rules at the time did not allow for her to be suspended.
However, and I think clearly in response to that incident, the rules have changed, and in the future the committee will have that as an option. I applaud USEF for doing so.
Brigid Colvin got two stays just to be able to watch. I hope some planning is happening now to handle the inevitable future legal case of a junior suspended during the eq finals.
Yes she did cheat. Not at the talent search, but with inclusive. Giving a horse any feed or paste to enhance their performance or alter their mood is against the rules, although no one seems to follows that.
I think you’re forgetting that not only Inclusive had 9 tubes of whatever-calm-paste he also tested positive for GABA. That’s cheating.
Whenever I see her ride I can’t help but think of how many times they’ve cheated in the past.
Are the rounds posted anywhere online?
There is a broken trust between me, as the reader/watcher/fan/horse lover and the competitor when they cheat. Who was I really rooting for? I feel taken advantage of because I feel lied to. Everyone wants their idol to be honest and genuine but when they cheat it’s hard for someone to believe that they deserve the praise you gave them.
I wanted Tori to be the underdog story or whatever but I feel lied to. How many times did they cheat through the ponies? Junior hunters? Maclay?

I am just disgusted and my daughter is too. First, people need to understand that equitation horses carry equitation riders. If the horse is drugged to perform- a hunter prep tweaked just so to leave the horse just a tad fresher - then the eq rider will be able to concentrate on her skills and position that much more. It is not as if eq championships as well do not come out of a team and sometimes people seem to think as if it is just the rider’s skill that produces the win. Of course, it’s the eq horse as well.
Moreover, a good jump doesn’t come out of a tube. But obviously a more compliant horse produces the best round that lets his natural skills shine. Of course, a drugged up horse may drop dead or crash once in a while. Just the risk worth taking for a big ribbon I guess.
I am just disgusted by the whole thing and obviously many others are too. I think in fact it’s important to voice our disgust. I honestly don’t feel like ever doing a USEF show again as they continue to tout this absolutely outrageously corrupt team who are all clearly involved in the process.
I have to say as well that while I don’t object to herbal supplements used as directed I just find it outrageous that this team would give their horse 9 times the recommended dosage of anything in addition to the Gaba and the bespoke vet paste. It’s just outrageous.
I just think that’s criminal and obviously a desperate measure to get a result. But that’s the difference between Team Colvin Parker and those of us outraged by the whole thing.
Tori rode beautifully - there is no taking that away and she did so on all the horses -and not for the first time. She is consistent across hunters, eq, and jumpers.
On a separate note, IMO if you think that Tori is the only top junior who has sat on a “prepped” horse you’re more than a little naive.

I agree completely. I feel disenchanted by the events surrounding Inclusive, and it makes me dislike all involved. I think we’d be naive to think, though, that TC’s is the only team who is playing the drugging game, though. How many pictures do we see on this and other websites where the horses have spectacular bascule, and knees to their eyeballs, but their expressions are completely blank and they are lop-eared? Not only can I not compete with the kind of money it takes to get to this level of the sport, but I won’t harm my horses to stoop to the levels these people slither at. So where does that leave me and my children?
