I think the fashion world has finally gone too far with its equestrian obsession. Behold, the “convertible boot”, aka paddock boots and half chaps:
I love half chaps as much as the next girl, but really?

Looks like equestrians were years ahead of the fashion world
 can’t they at least call them what they are?
I want to know what all the fashionistas will think when their half chaps start to slouch and the elastic part under the boot starts to drag.
So basically people are going to be walking around looking like they forgot to take their half chaps off  This is definitely a bridge too far on the riding-fashion crossover!!
Ha! This is getting kind of ridiculous. The only thing it’s missing is the spurs…
Uhh well maybe people will think my muddy paddock boots and chaps are a fashion statement now. Maybe ill het less nasty looks when I wear them into Starbucks.

Every Saturday I go grocery shopping after riding in the morning. I guess I’ve been fashion forward this whole time.

Some riding style boots absolutely have them in the form of dangle chains.
A few years ago I was wearing my field boots to work (I had to stop riding when I opened my shop). Women would obsess and tell me how authentic they looked, but I kept getting whif of horse in the fitting rooms with clients so they have sat since
About two months ago I was in a hoity-toity town waiting for my car to get an oil change - sitting at a Starbucks and up pulls a Range Rover and out comes a gal with a felt black cowboy styled hat, blouse, jean shorts, high heeled black ankle boots AND HALF CHAPS!! I couldn’t get my phone out to get a shot but was laughing… now I know it’s a Tory Burch fashion statement she stole from the local saddle store LOL!!!
Hey on second thought - I can sell mine to those fashionistas for 625.00!!! Ridiculous.
Guess I’m going to clean my boots and half chaps and walk around town with them! Maybe I won’t get as many “Ride me like you ride your horse” comments now.

but – but the skirt!

TBH It looks like she folded up an old felt pad and wrapped it around her… man, these outifts are getting easier to re-create by the minute!
I don’t know much about this company but what is with the prices!?!
From the review I read they don’t seem to be holding up very well!
Why not go to Dover and and get the same “outfit” for many $$$ less that should hold up great for only street ware!
I have been complimented on my “boots” before. Did you see the high heeled version! Yikes!
Man they didn’t even try to make them fashion forward or give them their own fashioney touch! They look exactly like Tredsteps and Ovations!

$625 for paddock boots & half chaps?
That are not even customs??
$350 for buttugly saddle pad skirt?
I have lived too long :dead:
I’ve seen people wearing half chaps as boots since last fall. It cracked me up, but I guess most fashion type boots don’t really fit very well so it kind of makes sense if you want a fitted tall boot look.
Maybe barn hair and dirt on your face will become fashionable next.
LOL
When I returned to riding a few years back, I discovered half-chaps, which hadn’t existed when I was a kid. I definitely thought they had fashion potential, because you could pair them up with any shoe base and make different boots! But the risk was that they would look like leather leg warmers, which is not a good look. I actually tried my new ones on with different shoes before I took them riding and they became terminally foul.
So I’m amused to see it has occurred to someone else. I think Greenhawk has been carrying Tory Burch “snaffle” link belts for ages, so maybe this company has always had an equestrian angle?
Edited to add: OK, my mistake. They are “Tory” belts, not “Tory Burch”!
