I guarantee you do know or interact with people, in your community and on your social media, that have committed unpalatable acts. Maybe they were caught, maybe they weren’t. You just have no idea.

I see at least one convicted and paroled murderer in my town, if not two, on a regular basis. I know them by name, and usually say g’day if our path intersects. I’ve had smoko and a cup of tea with a man who killed a family member, gave him a hug. He’s a nice bloke, salt of the earth. Everybody knows the circumstances of his crime. Everybody. It was tragic, a failing of society - not the man. The entire community stood behind him when he did his time, and embraced him upon his release. There are a couple of felons who pop up in the local FB groups, and more than a few who ought to be in gaol because they are bad dudes.

My point is: if you think you don’t know any such folk, think again. You just don’t know that you do.

I certainly would.

yes considering that the USEF makes it hard for non-members to find information on penalties and suspensions. Gathering your own due diligence, for most experienced horse people, should include show ring performance AND violations

Thank you. I wish that the stories had his picture to commemorate him. The booking pictures get attention, but the had a bright future and the best personality ever. I emailed COTH and asked if they wanted one and got no response at all. Disappointing

Many people here have lost a dear horse and have started threads to share the memories. Sometimes it helps to hear from strangers. It might be helpful for you to disengage from the mortifying information on this particular thread and start a new one.

I cannot imagine healing from such a needless act.
