Trakehner Stallions from back in the day....

Thank you. Impressionist looks great. my former BO bought little Hattie to use for dressage and then breed. She is dark bay and has that star, but she’s short. Supposedly her dam had an atrophied uterus. But BO and she did not mesh, and Hattie chose not to breed to anyone but the big old Hessen, LOL.

Will PM you about your horses. Hattie was on youtube when she was for sale, I don’t know if she’s still on there or not. Not the best sales videos, but you can see how cute she is. I think “lazytop” and “Hat Trick” are the links. The bored grey horse in one video is my Hessen. Former BO took off the funny last part where Cloudy got tired of having someone ride Hattie and he lunged over the fence at the rider. I had sent it to a lot of friends who all laughed at Cloudy. So former BO took that part off of the video, LOL.

I know some of the old line German trakehners, but since Cloudy has none of them in his lineage, I haven’t kept up with them. Too bad since traks have those good hooves.

I’ve been riding in Wayne, Il since 1970 and had the pleasure of knowing Edith Kosterka. Edith imported Nenufer, one of the first horses registered with ATA. She imported or bred many wonderful trakehners. She had Morgenglanz, a Breyer model, who hunted with the Wayne DuPage Hunt. Troubadour, who was the reserve horse for the Swiss Dressage Team at the Seoul Olympics. Wasyl was one of my favorites. I remember as a foal only a couple of weeks old that he was jumping things in his front pasture. When Edith died her horses were sent to the University of Illinois for their breeding program and others were sold. Her farm is now a jumper barn. I board there and have the only full trakhener on the farm. a gelding by Butow “E”.

Back in the day when warmbloods were scarcely known up here, thee were two Trakehner stallions - Boraks and Artic.

Wonder what became of them I bred my mare to Boraks, not very successfully, tho.

I believe Artic ended up down here in FL. Might be wrong though. He died several years ago. Tate was bred to an Artic mare up in PA (mare is a 3 yo this year). The mare was around 20 at conception and has produced several good field hunters/eventers over the years. Ill add the link to the video of the filly when I get to a computer. Very nice filly.

Thiara produced the Grand Prix dressage horse Thimur (by Enrico Caruso PsE*) and the exceptional Elite mare Thirza - the shining star of the Haemelschenburg broodmare band. Thirza produced 19 foals including the FEI dressage gelding Tylord, 1996 Neumunster Reserve Champion Trocadero and the Trakehner Verband Premium mares Tavolara (by Exclusiv), Teresita (by Alter Fritz), Thalia (by Exclusiv), Taormina (by Freudenfest) and Theresa (by Schwadroneur).

A winner of multiple ATA HOY Awards and the Trakehner Verband Award (for the most successful purebred Trakehner in Dressage) Tarim was also the 1985 AHSA (now the USEF) National Dressage HOY Intermediare I - Champion and PSG - Champion. Tarim was last owned by Joan Peyton (Avignon Farm) of Upperville, VA. He passed away in 2002 at the age of 27.[/QUOTE]

I also took lessons from Mr. Slaski and his wife, Lois. I have a polaroid of Sobek’s head/neck somewhere in my house! I used to be a barn rat there and mucked stalls for lessons. I remember Sobek, Hadje ( the black stallion) his name is longer, but I can’t remember how to spell it. Hadjdemak or something like that. Winterbrook and Springbrook are no longer there.

I always wanted a foal by Abdullah. Ever since the LA Olympics, although I did cheer for the mare, Touch of Class.

I have a mare by Impressionist, due to her being crazy about my Hessen Horse Cloudy.

Trakehners aren’t well liked among the imported warmblood people, I guess because of their intense Arab breeding. Hat Trick, Cloudy’s trakehner mare, is very nice though.

A friend of mine had a Condus mare back in the late 80’s, early 90’s. She started out in dressage and then started jumping and she was so talented over fences! Took her to S. FL when she moved and did really well in the hunters, was offered a good price for her. Bred her to Waldaire and had a colt. Then she had some kind of nagging injury, so she sold her as a broodie, but she had some issues getting back in foal. Not sure what happened to her, but she was a very nice mare!

This is a great thread! I am the proud owner of a registered Trakehner mare, Cara Dilis. I absolutely love her - she is the bravest, coolest, most awesome mare ever and I will never sell her. She has a handsome yearling colt by Parabol (though baby Ben is registered Oldenburg). Anyway, thanks for your most interesting comments, everyone!

I loved Abdullah growing up as well. And Touch of Class. I bred my TB mare to Pg stallion Special Memories by Abdullah out of Kluwall (Touch of Class’s dam). And I have the most wonderful coming 5 year old gelding with fabulous movement, jump and a charming personality. I know Special Memories passed recently. I am thankful to have a horse with a little bit of the gold and silver medalists in him. There may be some frozen left…
