Buh-bye to Maryland, My Maryland…
I guess I was not clear in what I wrote.
I meant that he got greater scrutiny because he was a Derby horse. His people seem to be wonderfully caring. If he was a low level horse with uncaring owners (and uncaring owners occur at all levels–when I said low life owners, I meant uncaring), I think he might not have been checked out the way he was, identifying the ligament strain. He might have run on the strain, which could have turned into a rupture, which could have turned into a catastrophic injury.
I too never want another Mongolian Groom situation. Horses get injured, yes, but ideally, in a perfect world, if they show something, anything ahead of time they are scratched.
Honor A.P. retired, we will see who is next to retire.

Not Honor Code but Honor A.P who is out of Honor Code.
Sorry he has been retired but looking forward to see what he produces.
Hope he does well at stud.
With his movement and his color, wouldn’t you love to try and breed a sport horse with him as the sire?
(I know, no way that will happen.)
Oops, that is what happens when I look at Honor Code’s page at the same time lol.
By Honor Code.
Gack… one of my personal detest when I see it and now I’m guilty of it :o
DRF reports that he had a tendon injury. I really need to get my hind end down to Lane’s End one of these years to see all of my favorites in one place!
Tiz the Law will be bypassing the Preakness and aiming for the BC Classic.
Knowlton told BloodHorse last week that “for the first time, after the Kentucky Derby, (Tiz the Law) came out of a race a little more worse for the wear than he typically does.”
Wonder if the slightly longer distance is just not Tiz the Law’s strength.
The Preakness is 1/16 mile shorter than the Derby and Travers.
I meant the longer distance as it relates to how he came out of the Derby, not the condition he might be in for the Preakness.
Oh, sorry. Never mind.
Sounds more like he just doesn’t do well at Churchill for whatever reason.
The other race he had run there, is the only other race in which he came out of it in rough shape… according to his connections.
Wouldn’t be the first time a horse dislikes a certain track.
That is true but I seem to recall (but could be misremembering) a discussion on TVG with a possible question with respect to Tiz the Law if 1 1/4 is a good distance for him or maybe a bit long.
Guess we’ll see in the Classic (assuming he’s in the gate… these days you never know).
He isn’t out of Honor Code. Honor Code is his sire not his dam. He is BY Honor Code and out of Hollywood Story. Because he came out of her.
Gee thanks, that was already pointed out in post 424 and apologized for (and not corrected as it was already quoted) in 425 :o
When watching them about to load, I commented to a friend watching with me that he looked trying to wash out, not like he was on the previous race, where he was calm while still up on his toes.
I wondered then how well he would run and sure enough, he just didn’t have it at the end.
Jockey tried but didn’t have enough horse right then.
I was glad jockey didn’t try to push him any more, that is how injuries happen.
Maybe something about the track or a previous experience there made him overly anxious, when he normally is not at all?
