Triple Crown 2021

This had me laughing the entire stretch

I have so much respect for the race callers… keeping track of the horses as they are running and chasing position… knowing when to start with the leaders again vs calling the entire field, catching something that may have happened outside the scope of the binoculars… tough job and I like the callers that bring their own personality to the race calls.

You forgot one of the all time great calls IMO. Chic Anderson’s

“…Secretariat is widening now. He is moving like a tremendous machine…”

In better news, what a lovely photo of Rombauer and Michael McCarthy. https://www.paulickreport.com/news/triple-crown/mccarthy-rombauer-justified-what-i-thought-of-him-all-along/

Brought a smile to my face. Who says trainers don’t care about their horses

The horse certainly seems to like his trainer too.

Undercard race to watch.
I’ll be rooting for GS.

Well, at least the rider is still on top.

Heels down, lean back and hope for the best.

This one gives me chills to even think about. Ugh.

Same when American Pharaoh took the Triple Crown. Can make my throat tighten a little bit. These animals that we all love are so incredible, and inspire such awe.

I read that France Go De Ina lost all four bell boots on a gallop yesterday. All four? Would that indicate a wacky gait, potential soundness issue, or just a slip-up on application by the barn staff?

Congratulations to @LaurieB whose homebred Dream Shake is running in the Grade 1 Woody Stephens, Saturday at Belmont Park.

ETA Correct day. :upside_down_face:

I don’t know. He’s quite a character though.
At least he didn’t lose his exercise rider again.

Thank you @skydy. (He is actually running on Saturday. )

Sorry. I thought today was Friday. :upside_down_face: I’ll edit.

IMO, the Belmont undercard has some exciting races. I’m probably looking forward more toward the Ogden Phipps with Swiss Skydiver, Shedaresthedevil and Letruska more than the Belmont.

Yup, also the Woody Stephens with Dream Shake and the Jaipur with Got Stormy and Oleksandra against the boys,

Got one also at Churchill where one of ‘my’ (ok, 5 nose hairs) is running. Race 9, and allowance race, on the turf. Just haven’t figured out how to watch it live…

1st bet live streams it. Hope that if it’s a photo finish, those 5 nose hairs make the difference.

I hope I don’t need to actually create a 1stBet account.

Believe it or not, Social Dilemma’s last race at Churchill Downs she did loose by a nose; must have been the wrong hairs  . I was screaming at her to hang on. It was her best Byer of her career.

Hoping for the win on Saturday

I think you do have to have an account, but I don’t think you have to put in funds. Good luck on Sat. I have a share in Got Stormy, so hoping for better results than her last time out.
