I am so excited!
Could be another wet one
yeah, this is unrelated, but I am jump judging this weekend, and it is supposed to rain all day Saturday. sigh.
Saratoga Saturday forecast is passing showers with the majority of the rain falling around noon time.
Bring your umbrella and dry shoes. In all honesty, I think Saturday will be mostly dry in Saratoga, Thursday will be the washout.
Has NBC totally given up on racing? I have noticed a blurb on FS1 several times, and I just checked, they are covering the Belmont.
Fox had the Belmont last year too, they must have a multi year contract?
Last year I was excited for Fox to cover it, I watched America’s Day at the Races regularly and like all of those broadcasters/commentators. Well when it came time for the main coverage on network tv at 4pm, it was not the regulars and I learned that I much prefer NBC’s main network coverage to Fox’s. So that’s saying something, it was really not good at all. I hope it improves this year.
This NBC-to_FOX thing must be like the NBC-to-ABC thing of years ago when the Derby and Preakness were on NBC and the Belmont was on ABC.
I just saw this:
How to watch the 2024 Belmont Stakes
Belmont Stakes coverage begins on FS1 at 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday. Coverage will move to FOX from 4-7 p.m. ET and then finishes off on FS2 from 7-8 p.m. ET.
I like some of the Fox people, but they usually have it on FS2 which is fine, but it gets bumped quite a bit. During the Derby, I found out that the old TVG is still covering the races, and they do a better job of it.
We try to catch the Triple Crown races on RTN (Race Track Network a subscription my DD has) by following on of the Standardbred tracks that’s broadcasting it in the middle of their card. We miss all the pre-race chatter, but that’s fine by us.
Live racing from Saratoga. Yay FOX! Enjoy.
Wow. NBC needs to get the military to sing the national anthem at the Derby and Preakness. This young lady did it right.
Shoot. “Preview Expired.” Should’ve told me it was just a preview at the beginning.
Sigh.
That sucks. Try your local FOX station. Looks like baseball is going over, but the original program schedule shows regular FOX from 4-7
Wonder how come there’s no distaff for the Belmont?
And how come Belmont Park doesn’t have an infield crowd?
I haven’t even noticed yet whether or not Saratoga does. It’s a lovely facility though. Those barns in the background when D. Wayne was touring the area in the golf cart. I barely heard the two men. I was admiring the scene.
The distaff race with the Belmont is the G1 Acorn and it was run yesterday (like the Oaks runs the day before the Derby.) It was won by Ken McPeek trained, Oaks winner, Thorpedo Anna.
Here’s the chart: Equibase | Saratoga Charts
There’s a maiden in the race?! Why?
Thank you. I think I have heard the name before but never in the context of the Belmont. I wonder if FS1 or 2 shows it on TV.
My local Fox channel is showing it. They are doing the pre-race show right now (4-6 pm ET) and then at 6-7 ET.
Yeah I think I prefer NBC, but glad to see it. Rooting for seize the grey
