Triple Crown races 2025

LONG stirrups!

Churchill Downs social media has a video of Journalism trotting on the track – and he just floats. That said, I think that a large field will be a problem for his running style.

I would love to see Curlin get a Derby winner.

I’m likely gonna key him in a wheel bet for exacta and trifecta, but I wouldn’t put him in the first key. I think there are grittier runners in this race.

We’ve just gotta see track conditions and post positions.

I am rooting for Sandman because of his Metallica connection

Going to wait for next week and the PP draw before picking anything.

Journalism is a smooth mover. I like him a lot.

Another one out. How many into Baeza can opt in?

Tappan Street Out of KY Derby With Condylar Fracture - BloodHorse

That is a shame, I do hope he recovers OK. I liked the look of that colt.

That’s got to be a huge disappointment for Tappan Streets connections. But better to find out before he races and is injured worse.

I’ve been watching past derbys and two stand out as “oh my gawd who won?”. The most famous is 2009 with Mine That Bird, but 2022 with Rich Strike was a screamer too. I love NBC’s overhead video showing where RS was in relation to Epicenter. Rich Strikes jockey (Sonny Leon?) was as cool as ice shavings as he threaded his colt through the horses in front of them. What a master class in race riding.

I think there are several owners and trainers breathing a sigh of relief. Journalism is in a good spot, and at least Sandman and Coal Battle aren’t tucked down by the rail. But watch Citizen Bull win  I’ll throw my shoes out the window if that happens!

was able to catch some works this morning. I dont think Coal Battle will get it done Saturday despite how much I love the horse- I think traffic will be an issue with him but he has a great PP. But what a classy horse he is. So chill with the growing crowds and very business like. So happy for his connections

Citizen Bull is beautiful. Hate his PP and I dislike his trainer. Expect him to be sent hard out of the gate. He is such a great mover, love his strong build. Think he will be like Gun Runner if he stays sound, better with age

Render Judgment- I know McPeek doesnt want to run the horse, but the owners do. Thought he looked good on the track. Very happy, ears always perked and he is getting over the track great.

Sovereignty - I like him. He may be my pick to win it.

Luxor Cafe- looks like a Cleavland Bay running around the track LOL. Love that he’s out there in a snaffle.

East Avenue- he is such a beautiful horse. Another one that may be my picj to win it.

Grande- I think the atmosphere is going to send him over the deep end

Love to see Barber Road out there as a pony wearing his Derby saddle cloth from when he ran.

Oh if you can get a pic of Barber Road working it would be much appreciated!

I liked watching Final Gambit work more than I thought I would. Sandman continues to move impressively on the track.

I saw a brief feature about Barber Road on America’s Day at the Races last weekend where they said he loves his new job. :slightly_smiling_face:
