Trunk Cover for Stanley Trunk

As much as I love my Stanley (which I spray painted purple) I’d really like for it to not be banished to the attic again and would also like to protect my paint job with a fancy cover.

Hoping to do a navy colour scheme with a monogram but most importantly be affordable!

The affordable ones that I have found so far wouldn’t fit the specs, and something custom (like the Clothes Horse) is way out of budget

Am I searching for a needle in a hay stack or could it be possible to find a trunk cover to fit a Stanley for under $150?

I wonder how too big this would look? http://www.doversaddlery.com/dover-s-tack-trunk-cover--standard/p/X1-27713/?ids=srsmmk55y4s3qdbsgiateb55. For the cost you could afford to
pad the top to make it hang right.

Have you considered making one yourself – or having a seamstress make one. Its pretty straightforward sewing. Take a picture to a seamstress along with the measurements or the trunk and get a quote.

Check the measurements of your trunk against the ready made options on Dover. I was able to get one from Dover that fit pretty well. I just had to shorten it. I cut it off and hemmed it; that was really easy. I got the navy and added a white monogram and some burgundy trim around the bottom where I shortened it. It looks great! Good luck!

I have the cover Morgan posted for my Stanley and it fits great. I have the Stanley with wheels. Mine is navy with grey.

I called the Smartpak people, and they were happy to adjust their “large” trunk cover to fit my trunk. Their covers are customized. It took awhile to get here, but it looks great.

The ready-made Dover covers are a pretty good fit - I have one for mine, and another friend has one for hers. The bandage lid version ends up being a bit long in the drop (too “tall”), but overall, it works well. If the drop is a big issue, put your Stanley trunk up on some kind of supports - wood blocks or the like.

(I advise waiting until the cover is on sale, which likely will not be too long of a wait, as Dover puts them on sale quite frequently.)

Poking my nose in just to ask which Stanley y’all are referring to. I’m looking for a box/trunk to use for Western shows and I’m not finding anything I like that fits in “my” world.

I have this one. It’s a Kobalt, not a Stanley, but I really like it.

In the OP she said she had already checked THe Clothes Horse and it was too expensive.

If you are lucky enough to have a mennonite or an amish tack store near you, they usually can do amazing things if you just tell them what you want!

I don’t know if you’re still in the market, but it’s custom fit for the Stanley 37" model and they look gorgeous in person. https://www.etsy.com/listing/212597695/custom-made-horse-show-trunk-cover

I second the vendor that Mane Alternative has posted from Etsy. This same vendor has their custom trunk covers advertised on Ebay. Sorry, I do not know how to post links…but if you go on Ebay and then search “Custom Horse Show Tack Trunk Cover” you will pull up the information, and see lots of pictures.
These covers specifically fit Stanley and Husky. From the pictures, these covers have a custom flap that allows for the pull out/retracting trunk handle, and one bottom edge of the trunk cover is “slit” in both bottom corners to allow for the wheels. The design is wonderful. Padded top, zipper access. It is made specifically for the new style trunks, and you wouldn’t have to make allowances for “almost fitting” or “should fit” from using a standard trunk cover. The handle slit makes all the difference, in my opinion. I haven’t bought one yet, but it is on my Wish List.

Clever for some artsy person to come up with the idea of making trunk covers specifically to fit the Stanley trunks. There’s a market there for sure! Pricey though-- I have a couple Stanley trunks and they each cost about 1/4 of what one cover costs!

ppst, check out the advertising rules in the sticky at the top of the forum!

vfx111 - given how many of us are now using the Stanley style trunks…if there are a variety of solutions in the marketplace for a trunk cover, then how awesome we can all help the OP get exposure to the choices available, including the etsy vendor.
The “advertising” rule to which you cite would also apply to the Clothes Horse employee who responded, eh? But to that employee I say hooray - the Clothes Horse products are stellar, and how great that that their employee referenced the OP to to their work as well.
