As the title says, I am trying to purchase (or rent) a copy of the movie that was made about Harry DeLeyer’s famous jumper “Snowman”.
Can anyone tell me where I might be able to obtain this. New or used (as long as it still is viewable!) is fine. I expect due to its age that it will only be available on VHS, but either VHS or DVD format is fine.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

Or am I wrong? Was there no movie made about him, only Nautical?
If there is a Snowman movie out there, I would really love to get a copy of it!
I did not know they ever made a movie, I have the book. I remember that there was discussion about making a movie, but I do not know if it ever was done… I would love to see it if there was one made.
Although I remember Snowman very well (we had a summer hosue down the road from DeLeyers in St. James) and I also took lessons from Harry…many moons ago!!!
As I cannot find a movie anywhere, I began to wonder myself if maybe there wasn’t one. That there was one of Nautical, but not Snowman.
It’s such a great story - I would love to find a copy of the movie if it really is out there!
The one about Nautical, The Horse With the Flying Tail, is not available in any form as far as I know. That’s one that I would love to see again. Perhaps the film has deteriorated too much. Never heard about one about Snowman.

It was available in VHS. I remember renting it.

The library in Leesburg, Va had it, I do not know about the availability on DVD. It was Disney after all, so you can take a good bit of that one with a grain of salt.
I have never heard of a movie regarding Snowman and Harry de Leyer, the book was super though. Thanks for reminding me Arizona DQ, I think I will have to look that up again.

NetFlix says it is NOT available in DVD
I don’t remember a movie about Snowman, maybe you are thinking of The Horse in the Grey Flannel Suit as that was also about a grey horse? And of course Nautical’s movie was the Horse with the Flying Tail, or something similar.
There was a new Snowman book released last fall. Maybe that is causing confusion.
A movie of the Snowman story was never made, although there were two children’s books-- now both sadly out of print.

I keep telling people that there is a lot more to the horse world than race horses!
Although out of print, both of those books are easy to find on most bookseller websites (Barnes & Noble, Alibris, Amazon, Bookfinder, etc.). And they are cheap besides.
Snowman

The Wonderful World of Disney! Might have between 1965-1967ish. It was more of an one-hour documentary format, than movie. Contact the Disney archive department…

There WAS a movie
There was a Disney movie that was shown on Wonderful World of Disney back in the late 60’s. I would laso like to obtain a copy. I remember seeing it prior to going to the Knox school as a student. Harry deLeyer was my instructor. We (students) used to visit Snowman frequently and some of us even rode him though he was retired at that time. I am excited about the new book The $80 Champion that is just out this summer…
Not coming out until 2015. What was he saying in the begining, trying to raise money to finish the film?
Just saw the movie and it’s excellent. It was picked up by Magnolia Pictures and is supposed to be in theaters next year.
