I’m kinda liking COTH…don’t know how that’s gonna work once UDBB is up again! Maybe I’ll go crazy trying to keep up with both!
I never said anything…
about the posters, I am sure it is a fine group, the owner wont allow me to participate becaise of a predjudice about Yahoo accounts. Seems strange to me! So I guess I will never know how the Other board is!
errrr… i may not agre with rk, but i think you have me mixed up with someone else… ??
cuatx - its tough duty trying to keep up with both boards. Since I’m not working and suddenly sooo busy, I’ve given up completely. I just swoop in, read what interests, and swoop out again. Not like when I was paid to surf the 'net.
There are some fine folks over here, I hope some of the udbb-er’s continue to hang out with us.
I do UDBB and not COTH normally, because my work fireplace sees UDBB as a work site (meaning I can get in) and COTH as a personal site (meaning I can’t get in).
The feel over there is a lot warmer so far.
So…
THIS is where everyone came to roost.
Sigh…it’s a Lion King Moment…
Can you feel the love tonight?
The peace the evening brings
The world, for once, in perfect harmony
With all its living things…
…okay…time for the insulin…
hehehe
I doubt that- I think you’re known WORLDWIDE…
And WHERE exactly do you all hang out?? not on the dressage forum- ?? maybe in off course…you all seem to be a great bunch of fun-loving folks with a sense of humor- this said, that’s not the typical acidic type feeling I get when I read the dressage board over there…it seems like there is always a priest on the pulpit whipping the poor dressage junkies into shape…and praising the ODGs up the whazooo…?><>&#(^$^
Everyone hangs in the dressage forum at one time or another but we are all pretty rounded folks so we also discuss politics, recipes, relationships as well as equine therapy, nutrition, care, shoeing, etc…
And we are extremely lucky to have contributors like Kasette, Gallop, MsKreuz, Touring, Monica, LynnS, SunnySantaCruz, and many more, including a few folks from Portugal, Germany, UK, etc…which add a different perspective on dressage like Lusitana.
And by the way, why shouldnt the ODG not be respected? Because if today’s big name are lucky, they too will some day be ODGs.
And we do get visits from WAZ and the Spanish Riding School head instructor who are very generous in contributing to our board.
And, we were the Lucille board. She touched all of us with her wisdom, common sense and generous advice.
And we have Sybelle and Xantheria, two of the witiest people you will ever dream of meeting.
And the indefatiguable Peter Guy and Bjurd who have been joined by Cdrake and now Kestrel and Dalfan and provide a political education to one and all.
And of course we have Stardoozer who has grown up on the board to win the Brentina Cup. And AmandaBailey who is doing very well, and eam who won her bronze freestyle bars…and more.
Its a family over there.
thanks Karoline- as usual- you set the picture straight…none of the ones you mentioned are on this thread-- some of those that you mention are the ones- that like to preach and create a holier than thou atmosphere- which some like and some don’t- no problem.
My question is not answered- where is the clanter gang??THEY are fun!!! I want to hang with them…
At this time, I bet you Clanter is on www.dressageit.com, chatting up the australian contingent.
Clanter has become the UDB’s mascot of sorts. He is like the mcgyver of horsemen and knows absolutely everyting from the price of an ounce of ambregrix (and where its found) to where giant rabbits are bred.
Oh, yes the ladies of UDB love Mr. Clanter. Who is also an Honorary Slownomian.
Speaks Francais. Tres debonnaire.
Think Sean Connery.
Good morning! Well, I can’t speak for others, but I post wherever I see something of interest or where I feel I can contribute something of use… so I have posted on the Dressage/Trainng forum when it was appropriate; even innaugurated threads  there. And I’ve learned a lot!!! I LOVE the Obs. Lounge though, the friends I like to think I’ve made there (though they might just be humouring me so that our little corner of the UK is primed and ready to be harvested when the mothership finally pays her congestion charges).
On a very personal note… whilst my opinions on correct training might not be all that revolutionary or contentious, I have never felt the need to duck out of a discussion because of them. Nor, for that matter, have I ever felt that I would be censored… But I do feel that a respectful manner to EVERYONE is important in a discussion and try to treat participants with nothing less than the consideration with which I’d treat my family and friends. If I disagree with something that’s fine, that’s the nature of discussion; I don’t see my particular mission in life as having to change folk’s opinions. Strictly a personal comment all that-- not an evaluation of BBs in general you understand…
Regarding those political threads on UDBB…there have been some interesting threads that may not changed a person’s mind or caused them to totally to flip from one party to another but they do question just what is the reasoning of the party. Some, possibly many, have taken new looks at old questions and come back with a renewed view.
How I got to the Dressage board was by the way of my daughter who is an Eventer among other aspects of the horse world. We raise Morgans and have a few Minis for the added humor.
Out horses have won National and World placing and some of National Titles… not bad for the backyard ranch set in the middle of the city.
Better yet we have taken inter city kids…put them on our horses and had them win High Point Youth at Class A shows.
It is my belief that unless we as an industry do not reach out to expand our reach then the industry will die. The death will be slow but there will come a time when the expense of having a horse will become so high that most of the present owners will have to say there was once a day when we had horses.
Mmmmm…yawn…stretch…Good Morning! A little breakfast stretch before going out to ride before it is too hot to move (and I am in a Northern state, I would never survive where some of you are!). I have dreams of getting everything done before noon so I can go see Pirates this afternoon-I can’t believe our tiny theater has it the FIRST weekend. I wonder if I can smuggle in a Big Bag of Cherries from the grocery…there is something to be said about going to the movies in the winter when noone wonders over my parka.
To actually say something related to the thread, he he, I myself cruise through the dressage forums on both of these sites, read what I find of interest and Sometimes post, not really often. Mostly on horse care/vet forum, facilities (UDBB), young horse (UDBB), and off course. Mostly off course, although I know what to stay out of there as well. Sometimes the political discussions there tend to take on the tone of the rollkur ones here! I can learn something in them, but if I ask a question I must be retarded and ignorant…so I stay out.
Toddling off to find some breakfast…do you suppose the Saddlebred martinis are inappropriate? Yes, I imagine so, the kind of thing that would lead to self help meetings in a dark must church basement somewhere in the future…
I joined the UDBB a couple of years ago mostly just to gleen info from all the wise ones. And then I read clanters posts…he cracked me up made me laugh and then he was gone. Turns out he did a stint in New Orleans for weeks helping those who needed it most. Everyone rejoiced the day he posted on the UDBB again. After that I was hooked…the number people who welcomed him back was amazing. I knew then I wanted to be part of such a caring community. I don’t post very often…typing skills are abominable. But I hang around and enjoy you all. Suzy better hurry up!
I have joined FIVE forums since July 3 By the way that sporthorse one that someone mentioned awhile back is like a MORQUE. Noby home…it was spooky!!
Hello everyone!
that sporthorse one that someone mentioned awhile back is like a MORQUE. Noby home…it was spooky!!
yes…dust every where… most topics had not had a post for a looooooong time
Regular Einstein… good to see you
There’s a new message up when you try UDBB. Sounds like Mark and Digi are working hard to get it back together.
Must be hard trying to keep the new farm running (and it’s the ‘busy’ season) and UDBB running when there’s a tech crisis like this.
Poor guy I bet he hasn’t slept.
Clanter- show 'em the picture of your mini in a bucket!
Anyway, I consider it kind of like two equally-priced brand of cars (I was going to mention brands, then I figured it would start a fight :D)… both are good and there’s lots to like on both, but they’re also different at the same time (one has a sunroof and the other has heated seats?). And some people cannot imagine why one would like Ford and others cannot imagine why one would like Dodge (esp. Chancellor, har har).
Having worked in the Internet/email addy management world for awhile, it’s not really a bad policy to exclude the free email addresses. I’m sure that free-email exclusion drives you crazy, and it might appear unfair, and that there are really great folks who only have free email addresses; but in terms of reducing exposure to the real Internet bad guys it’s probably effective. I don’t mean our little trollsters who stomp across the dressage bridges, but more the really scary guys. The downside is that the good guys get excluded. It’s really not a random prejudice.
I am on a short leash
