Unusual barn names

I know lots of Cody’s, Apache’s, Doc’s, etc.

I now have a horse at the barn called “Empreza” and that has nothing to do with her registered name “Eye full something?” LOL.

Another is Atticus, registered name “El Liberdad de el Dons” he’s a Paso. I think that means the Liberty of the Dons, maybe:confused:

What’s your most unusal barn name:D

“For Sale…” heehee

Actually ALF. His hair stood up like Alf’s from the show.

I am considering changing my gelding’s name to “Money Pit”…

Does that count???

Trainer’s got the sweetest little mare by the name of Bully. Her JC name was Bullupyourbritches. How un-ladylike! Has another, also lovely mare named Naughtie, with the equally tacky name of Nothinbutagoodtime.

We’ve had a lot of horses with barn names that unrelated to show names, like George (Super Time Glory) and Cuddles (Salute The Master) and Bugsy (Easy Money Jr.). I think most of those names came with them from the track.

Aww, I wanted to name a horse Atticus once!

I knew a pony who was called so many different things, no one remembered what his name was…It was either Taco or Burrito (fat, little, dun pony. SO CUTE).

I’ve also known horses with just letters as barn names…both G and Z.

And I always think it’s weird how many horses and ponies there are named “Blue.” But then I remember I have a horse named Indigo and people might find that pretty strange.

My current horses’ barn names are:
Belle, Esme, Rossi, Sienna, Charisma, Neve and Delphia

I think the oddest that I’ve heard in a while is Mare. Yep- really. Lady who I ride with is a retired jockey- she says she’s seen about as many bay TB mares in her lifetime as you possibly can and she didn’t feel this one was anything special so she named it Mare- LOL!

I had a horse called The Millers Choice. His previous owner called him Dakota (barf.) I renamed him Miller, which, after getting to know him, I combined with Alpo to make to “Millpo.”

My new horse is called Surlyn, and I call him Surly, which is ironic, because he’s the sweetest thing on four legs.

My horse’s dam was Tellmewhatyouknow by Clever Secret. So her barn name was “Whisper”. I like clever sort of barn names like that.

Knew an Indigo and a GQ (I thought that was really weird!)

BM has one in training now named Bludo (or Bluto?) Also have an ottb whose name is “Buddhaful” so she goes by Buddha.

I’ve known a “Yummy” he was shown under Baklava. Also “P.O.T.U.S.”, “Gidget”, “Oosa” and “Panini” (he is a palomino, what else could you name him!) As others above I have also known a “George” and an “Indigo”.

I’m awful with names so they often end up “the grey filly” or “the bay one”. My poor cats get the worst names though… they are always named by their colors.

We have…

my gelding - barn name is Glue

my riding mare is commonly known as Asshat. by everyone. (which is funny because she’s actually a smart fun little horse) but she started out as an Asshat and it stuck

one of my boarders - barn name is EMT. she had a ambulance ride one day when she first got him.
my sons pony - barn name is Squeal cuz he squeals like a little pig at feeding time

Another boarder - barn name Gordozo. ?? no clue. Owner is funny cuz she gets out her truck here and yells it all drawn out across the pasture and he comes running.

my fathers horse’s barn name is Alpo
Broodmares all have barn names that seem to change depending on the day. snicker
friend of mine, her horses barn name is Pumquat… he’s a big barreled orangey chestnut so he somehow ended up as a cumquat/pumpkin mix.

I’ve met Porkchop, 260 (supposedly his auction #), and Paint Mare (who had a tiny splotch of white on her belly).

And my favorite: Marshmellow, a tiny fluffy white pony

I know a horse called “Adolph”. Make of that what you will.

Marshmallow should hang out with the tiny, fat, fluffy bay pony I know named Moonpie!

I call my young, handsome, bay TB Spanky. Drives the BO nuts.

My big mares “official” barn name is Red. I know terribly creative for a chestnut. In her previous barn she was often “Buttercup” when little ones were around the the BO didn’t want to call her Bitch in front of them.

What I thought was really funny, was that 2 barns ago, they called her Nitro, since she was the hottest thing the Heinz 57 boarding barn. When she went to the “buttercup” barn, which was all ASBs, they thought she was a dead head.

Tripp (LOVELY TB with a great sense of humor!)
Kudos
BC (Beef Cake)
PITA (he was)
Rhonta
Depot (short for Home Depot) He was a fixerup kind of gelding and his mom worked for Home depot.
LS (Litte S#$% or his show name Lil Somethin)
Vision - This one was a bad joke by the breeder of a most unfortunate looking foal who grew up into a fabulous mare but OH! I have never seen such an UGLY foal.

Our guys:

-Murdock

-Dancer (I hate that name, but can’t come up with anything PC enough to call him in public, so Dancer he remains)

-Hemi (apparently, he was called Hammie -as in Ham Bone- by a previous owner. A misunderstanding made him Hemi. It fits.)

My lease horse is Monroe and I call him Rover because he’s a big puppy dog.

One I used to ride was Gator, short for Instigator.

The original “Linny” was rally Millennium. He went from Lenny to Linny to Skinny Linny to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

A friend of mine who used to work for a trainer who handled the racehorses for Sheik Hamdan who gives most of his horses Arabic names that they used to make up names for them like Blinky and Brownie and Pookie.

my pony has many names. Beans and el-be being the most common.

My sons pony is Donatello, or tello for short.

The twhi ended up with came with the name Pushers Friday Night Girl. I call her Girlie.
