update - I made a mistake here but trainer doesn't seem to be super pissed at me

FYI, the fastest way to make sure more people look at something you don’t want them to is to delete the title and replace it with “.” ;)
Gotta admit that’s the only reason I clicked on this thread…

Good luck OP. I hope you’re able to work with your trainer and horse and further your equestrian education!

I had already read this thread and didn’t realize it was this one since the topic had been changed … good luck OP, hope it all works out for you.

So you ride her everyday? Were there ever any sweat marks from being ridden earlier that day by said trainer?
Slightly off topic but, if I had a trainer ride my horse I would be super PO’d if I came out later and saw it had sweat marks on it. I clean off sweat marks after I ride and I would expect that anyone else who rode the horse would make sure they, or someone else, did the same.

The OP told the trainer that she “vented” her frustrating on the internet (as opposed to working out their business relationship in person) because she’s 21 an and mentally ill?

Were I the pro, I’d be in a hurry to let this client go.

I really wouldn’t want a client airing our dirty laundry in public before she came and talked to me about it…. no matter what I had done.

That horse left the barn the minute you went to the internet.

Trainer doesn’t even have to look for it herself. Sooner or later a “friend” will print it out and hand it to her.
Maybe it is time not to worry about having the reputation of being trouble, but about the reputation of not rendering the services professional is being paid for.

Having the reputation of standing up for yourself and your interests, because, hell, if you don’t do it, who will?!

I suppose the industry is dominated by females, one does not want to come across as bossy, assertive (male attribute, BTW, the girl version is bossy/bitchy)

There is a difference between being unreasonable in your demands, vs expecting what is yours per agreement.

If things in the barn smell fishy, they usually are.

(Lesson learned from my late sister: Once you are known as ‘The Bitch’ people tread lightly around you. She never got short changed on services she paid for!)

The trainer should take this thread to heart. The industry might be small, but sercrets are getting harder to keep.

Unless you have an employment contract, the above situation would be impossible. Apples and oranges. In the OP’s case, she’s paying for a service. In your scenario, you’re being paid to render a service, and you’re not doing it. Again, apples and oranges.
If you were referring to my post, you misread it. I was comparing the position of the trainer, not the OP. Tongue-in-cheek. The point being that the trainer works for the OP and not the other way around.

But then there would be nothing on the internet but kitten pictures.

And with nothing but kitten pictures (and puppy videos) so much less time would be sent on the internet, thereby killing off an entire marketing segment and undermining the whole economy … … drama feeds the massive economic segment that is the internet!   (look to the right of this thread at all the businesses that might go out of business without people returning to this thread to find out what happens next)
