Michael Barisone’s diagnosed condition of delusional disorder, per the highly regarded experts that testified on his behalf and in three separate Krol hearings, had NOTHING to do with whether or not he shot Lauren Kanarek and EVERYTHING to do with his (delusional) fear that she was going to kill him.

In my humble opinion, MBs delusional disorder being in remission and MB being found eligible for release are part and parcel of his “being very sorry for what he did” and being “grateful LK survived” as opposed to insisting on relitigating the trial. That is the change in the testimony of the Krol hearing between non release and release.

1. His treatment team of psychiatric professionals
2. Judge Taylor

I think you’re going to go nuts trying to insist on two contradictory things — that MB can be snd is released because he has escaped his delusion that he shot her in self defense, or maybe did not shoot her at all, and at the same time hold on to those delusions.

Almost everyone on this thread is doing great and celebrating all this good news about MB, his release, and the insurance settlement he just won. You don’t need to worry about the rest of us going nuts. Thanks though.

As I’ve said, if MB clings to his former delusion that LK was trying to kill him and his family, and that necessitated his shooting her in self defense, his journey to mental health and to unconditional release may be jeopardized.

I am hoping for full unconditional release for him when he is ready and the court system determines he is ready. Aren’t you? Do you think he can be unconditionally released and allowed to return to Florida if he clings to the delusion that LK was going to kill him?
