Urgent: Transworld mares and youngstock

Has someone cross posted to Off Course and the Racing forums?? Or maybe the eventing forum? Probably get a few more dribbles that way. Just a suggestion.

Story warms my heart…

Some of the horses have coughs and other issues, so they have had to have antibiotics from the vet. So everyone who can send a dribble, no matter how small, please send it asap.[/QUOTE]

Yes, even the smaller contributions help … Many littles = a lot, once they are all summed up.

An ongoing reminder / contribution / fund thread for these Transworld rescue stock would be a good thing. We all know this journey to safe, permanent homes has only just begun, with as little handling and previous care many of these horses seem to have received.

Videos appreciated when someone has time! The photos bring home what nice horses these are.

My heart goes out to the horses who had to be left behind … and to the people who were there … I know you did everything you could do, and how hard this must have been.

Please send me a PM. I just won some money from a horse show, and I’d like to pay it back to horses.

Three things:

  1. Epona and everyone else who played a role in making this happen-many, many thumbs up!
  2. Someone message me the PayPal address please. I’d like to send a dribble.
  3. And someone please message me (or post) the Facebook page.

Boy, no kidding. I wanted to cry when I looked at that Facebook page. Poor poor horses. I hope their end was swift and painless.

I’ve seen the undercover videos of slaughter. First crammed onto trucks where some horses fall down and get stepped on. Then herded into lot and then into slaughterhouse where they are strung up by a hind leg and get shot in the head with the bolt gun, then their throats are cut while they are still alive so they will bled out. They thrash around and twitch for a while. Not a good ride and not a good death. I’ve been anti-slaughter since I was a child and read about Wild Horse Annie. I blame the owners for what happens to their horses when they dump them. Better to put them down than to have hours of fear and pain in transport and then a painful death.

It is with very heavy heart that I share that we put Fellow down on Friday. His long standing hoof injury was just not fixable in a manner that would have been fair to the horse, particularly with his total lack of training. We really tried. Poor Fellow. :frowning:

I just got the latest from Epona, and it sounds like the horses are largely settling in well. There was a mix up with the brand inspection/purchase on one foal who had actually been purchased by another party–so that one has gone up to another owner in Fort Collins. I think (and I could be wrong here) that makes the count Transrama, Winning Spin and 5 weanlings/yearlings and one two year old. (Do I have that right, Epona?)

Several of the babies have coughs and runny noses and have been put on Excede, a long acting injectible antibiotic, for that, and the first round of worming has commenced. Thankfully, they all have good feet and are very sound. The mares aren’t real big, but it looks like the foals will grow bigger, perhaps to 16ish hands.

Youngsters are all very willing, smart and trainable. The older mares are a little slower to come around after living wild on the range for so long, and having to protect their babies from various threats, but will get there.

Epona is in contact with the lady who took Precisely Nicely, and he’s already been halter broke, stands in cross ties, has been saddled, taught to longe and has been sat on. THAT’s how trainable these guys are. She says he’s the nicest horse she’s ever had.

I’ll go through and try to capture everyone who needs the paypal info. If I miss anyone, let me know.

Thank you all for you help with these horses. Epona reports that they know they’ve been saved

I am sooooooo sorry and sad to hear that. I am glad that he found someone to give him peace from what he endured. You did your part as best you could. You didn’t shrink from that job you stepped right up to it.

The video really speaks well to the easy temperaments of this bloodline. Thank you for getting that b/c it will help in placing the rest of them and leave his memory alive with them.

Simkie, thanks for giving him a go, and for giving him some nice last days. I’m glad some nice horses are getting a second chance. I especially thank Epona for taking on the ultimate burden of the day-to-day care, and I hope we can collectively lighten the load at least a little.

Simkie, so sorry. At least his last few days were pleasant. Thanks for what you did, and tried to do.

I hope the Cothers will continue to step up and help EponaCl with the ongoing expenses.

Such a sad story but looks to be a positive ending.

So sad that you have to let him go… he was so cute. Thank you for trying so hard.
They all seem very easy to approach and train. I hope it will help them long term!

Thank you to you and Epona!

Just sent a small dribble. Thanks Simkie for the PM. Sorry to hear he didn’t make it, but at least happy for him it was in the presence of humans who cared.

I’m not the religious type, but if there is indeed a God, he is blessing everyone who took part in helping these horses land safely.

Please send me paypal information. Would love to send a dribble.

luvmyottb, PM sent.

Epona pm-ed me that 8 are in quarantine due to coughing. All were wormed on Sat. and antibiotics together was over $500.

Roughly 1/3 of the amount spent to buy the horses has been donated but she is holding that in reserve for medicine, quarantine and basic handling training so they can find future homes.

All the horses are very sound, very correct and very pretty. Sounds like their temperaments are very good also.

I hope Epona or Simkie will come on here and let us know what horses/young ones
are still available. I know some have been spoken for and I don’t want to give incorrect info.

send it to me too. I don’t really do paypal, but will try…

RIP Fellow  So sorry to hear this Simkie, thank you for helping him.

I’ve skimmed back thru pages looking for info on Cherry Cola. Did someone take her?

I’m afraid I don’t know who is available/spoken for specifically. I do know that no weanlings are still in need of homes. I think Epona is keeping Transrama. There is a yearling colt that is a full sibling to Nightmare Doll who is very correct and I believe is still looking for a spot–anyone want a stallion prospect? He is 2 x 3 Transworld and his tail male is Teddy…which I think is an extinct sire line in the US (Viney?)

The bays, including the heavily in foal mare they were calling Cherry Cola, are with Epona. I think the bay youngsters are a colt and a filly and both young.

Alright, this MIGHT be who we are talking about:

Transrama
Winning Spin
Whatifyouwereme
Indian Girl 2014 colt
Transrama weanling
Bay unregistered mare heavily in foal, the 2007 The Rufus x Lettheworlddance
Bay unregistered colt
Bay unregistered filly

So sorry about Fellow Simkie but thankfull you spared him worse and he was loved and doted on at the end.
