VA folks - Trafalgar Square babies?

Hi all - posted a few years ago trying to find more information about my gelding, and was lucky enough to find a poster on here who knew his dam. I’ve done some research and found out a lot more about my horses’ heritage, which is great, but what I’d really like to find is some information about his siblings.
What I know, or believe to be accurate based upon being told:

Trafalgar Square stood at Mike Rowe’s in VA until he was gelded and now, to my knowledge, competes as a jumper. Grey Trakehner gelding. 10 or so years old and probably gelded at least 4 years ago. My understanding is that there are quite a few Teddy babies around in VA.

Anyone heard of them, have them, ride them, or have pictures etc? Just curious what they are doing now. Thanks!

ok there is

Square One-1st filly-did well in hunter breeding. I can’t find her

but…

Gavin Moylan is the person who bought Teddy from Mike. I do think he was gelded in Gavin’s ownership. He still owned him 4yrs ago and I spoke to him about Teddy because I saw Teddy’s name on an entry for HITS Ocala and wondered if it was him. I loved that stallion when I worked for Mike:yes:

Gavin may know of some foals that were by Teddy

Oh Teddy is at least 13-14yrs old and he is by Tarim http://www.americantrakehner.com/Stallions/Inactive/Tarim.asp

Thanks Nootka!!!

I did find a Trafalgar Square with similar bloodlines but its a different one I guess. That one was 10. Seems to me you’re right he is about 13-14 because when I bought my horse I met Teddy and he was about 11 then…I did buy mine from Gavin so I was fortunate to meet Teddy then. Horse has a beautiful form o/f.

I’ll look for Square One on USEF, see if I can find her.

Thanks!

No problem at all.

There were 5 foals born that year and one had a mother that died at foaling. I was IN LOVE with Square One and almost asked Mike if he would trade my gelding for that filly…lol.

Teddy had a jump to die for back then. I wish I could find the picture they used for his stallion ad. WOW

He most def left an impression in my mind because I can’t believe I remember who he was sired by

Do you remember what year that was? The first crop of babies? I guess I’m not sure how many he had…I met one of my horse’s half brothers once. He was bay and more TB than WB for sure. I would sure love to see any pics of Teddy you might have, or any of the other babies, I’d really like to see what they all look like because I think my guy looks a lot like Teddy myself… here he is year after I bought him http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=34053110&l=65e8c606c2&id=15606694 and at a schooling show this fall http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=38525323&l=febede5bc6&id=15606694

He does look like Teddy

First foals were 1999

I just remembered another filly-Piccadilly Square

I wish I had some pictures but I don’t. I was just thinking though… you should post this question on Hunter/Jumper. There are a few over there that know Mike and might help

Square One

Heyy I somehow came across this post and i believe i own the Square One mare that you guys are talking about. This is crazy. I have been looking for information about her breeding for years. I bought her through joe fargis in middleberg, va and never meet the owner but then when i saw the name Mike Rowe in these posts, i remembered that that was the name of her owner on her coggins when i purchased her in 2005.

I have Square One…I am leasing her for breeding

She just had a gorgeous filly - bay with a big blaze, lots of white.

who is she by?

Square One aka Nikki was bought by a client of Joe Fargis from a client of Mike Rowe. Mike bred Nikki and she was purchased as a weanling or yearling by the client who sold her to Joe’s client. I think she was out of Chelseas Small Talk. Mike had to geld Teddy because of a herniated testicle. That’s why he had so few crops and why there was not any frozen semen. Teddy was a weanling when I rode with Mike in Arcola - that was around '96 - so that would make him 14ish now. His last crop was '01 maybe '02. The foal who’s mare died during foaling was named Destiny - not sure where she is now - I know the owner still had her 2 years ago but am not sure where she ended up.

Square One’s filly

is by Capryo - a Hanoverian stallion imported in utero. His pedigree and photo are here: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/capryo

His babies are doing well on the line and over fences. This filly is tall, refined and bay with the most incredibley sweet personality. She is $5000. Photos and video available.

USEF has no record of him showing in the period 2005-2010 so he isn’t showing as a jumper or he is showing unrated.
USEF has 6 horses listed by him, three of which may be the same horse. He is a 1996 model.

There are several USEF listings for ‘Square One’ but none of them list Trafagar Square as the sire.

If you are on Facebook, I’d post your question/search there. I’m betting you’ll get an answer.

Square One’s filly is on facebook

search “hunter vale farm”. She is a leggy bay with a blaze. Sensible and sweet - zero spook and very easy.

I own Chelsea Small Talk and could give you plenty of pics and more information on her and her offspring.

Square One - Teddy’s first baby.

Hi. I owned Square One. I rode with Mike Rowe for many years (I also owned Wap’s It To 'Ya - a/k/a Jeffrey).

I bought Square One (“Nikki”) right after she was born and took her to Upperville where she won the foal class. I spent the next three years bringing her up. We broke her at about 2 — she was HUGE with a BIG jump like her daddy Teddy (Tafalgar Square). She was topping 17’ as a 3 yo and she was very powerful and a beautiful liver chestnut.

Unfortunately, I run into some hard times (divorce) and ended up having to sell her. I sold her to a man from NY who had big prospects for her. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name. But, Mike may be able to. Mike is still in VA (near Jeffersonton) – just caught up with him last week actually. Knowing Mike he won’t mind me passing along his number: 540.718.3271. If you know Mike, he would love to share stories.

Hope this helps a little – Mike will definately know more.

BTW - Gavin was the one who put me in touch with the buyer from NY…

I have a picture of Nikki and Destiny as yearlings. Yes - I sold Nikki (see other posting) to Joe’s client. Yes, she was out of Chelsea’s Small Talk. Teddy was at a show and herniated one testicle and was quickly gelded.

I was the first owner of Square One (Nikki) - I rode with Mike Rowe and bought Nikki at 2 months. Had to sell her at 3 yo. Would love to see how she looks now (she was HUGE when I sold her). I have a picture or two of her as a foal…

I originally owned Square One - rode and showed with Mike at the time. I bought her at 2 months and sold her to Joe when she was 3. Would love to know how she is doing these days.
