VA hound Show

Can anyone explain to me the scheduling of classes (or lack thereof)? The only class that is listed on the schedule is at noon while there are obviously other classes. Right?

Well, the schedule is unchanged for decades I think, although this year’s prize list didn’t give a start time. But, in each ring, its dogs in the morning, bitches in the afternoon, generally starts with unentered hounds (single then couple), then entered (single and couple), then stallion or brood bitch, w/o get, with get, then championship. After championship bitch in the afternoon, then champion for that ring, then pack classes, then all ring champions go for overall championship. Variations on this for PMD which has ‘listed’ and ‘unlisted’ categories.

And- hoping someone will post the results for those of us far, far away!

OMG!! Had a blast today at the hound show.

Tons of others I’m sure but my focus right now is on ID’ing my photos. Got a fantastic one of Lex and his friend (yes, she of hte ‘dog’ question - sans dog!) and Melvin Poe and JSwan.

Do me a favor - email me at home - BetsyP@crosslink.net - with the proper spelling of your name and Jackie’s. I need it for a photo id. Probably going to use the pic in the Fauquier Democrat Wednesday. Definitely using it on VirginiaEquestrian.com and surely on my Facebook page!! ASAP, pls.
Anybody else who was there PLEASE check in.

I just made it back myself. Not feeling well. I think I damn near blacked out a few times on the way home. Not sure why. Anyway, I’ve got lots of great photos to go through, as I stayed until it was ALL over, and I’ll upload the ones I really like or think worth a look to my Webshots. Betsy, I’ll send you an e-mail as soon as I get the spelling of her last name properly confirmed. Had a great time today and got to talk to some very nice people about all sorts of things. Even saw John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted fame. Now I must attend to my nearly 1500 photos…

I haven’t had that much fun at the hound show in years.

My only regret was that I missed speaking with xeroxchick and Tantivy.

I was thrilled to meet Lex and friend… and right before I left I chatted a bit with Lynn Lloyd. I have GOT to get out to hunt with Red Rock.

Stunning hounds, wonderful handlers, lots of smiles. Pack classes were great.

Also met a lovely young lady with Why Worry but I can’t remember her BB name this second. You should have seen how proud she was when the hounds she’d worked with won their class.

Great day, well organized as usual - lovely grounds and mansion.

Came home to find that Mr. JSwan had started a “project” - involving a chainsaw, and what looks like part of our roof. On a burn pile. :He does like his chainsaw… .

Biggest shock of the day was discovering that Lex is a guy, and he looks like a very young Colin Firth!

Hubba Hubba. <3

The Mods need to change my user label to “COTH’s SEXIEST MANWHORE” or something like that or I need to put that in my signature so people stop thinking I’m a girl. If I did put that as my signature, then I wouldn’t get to amuse any of you with Snoopy’s witty quotes in my signature line. :frowning:

I don’t think I’ve ever been described as Colin Firth before. Are we talking “Pride and Prejudice” Colin Firth, “Bridget Jones” Colin Firth, or “Love Actually” Colin Firth?

Um - I have no idea because I haven’t seen any of those movies - the Pride and Prejudice I saw didn’t have him in it - it had some other guy. I did like Colin Firth in the New World though.

Snoopy is quite witty - but do tell. Which movie star does he resemble?

Geez, guys. I"m so sorry Tallahassee is so far away from the show. I just couldn’t make it. I would have loved to have seen Tantivy, Hunters Rest and all my VA buddies!!

So is it posted anywhere who won? I can’t wait to see how everyone (including my Southern Hunt friends and LOH) did!! Of course, I’m pullin for a lot of my Carolina and VA friends too <smile>!!

Snoopy does not resemble a movie star. Snoopy IS a movie star. He’s David Hasselhoff.

Even saw John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted fame. Now I must attend to my nearly 1500 photos…[/QUOTE]

His wife, Reve, hunts down in Florida. It was very interesting when she came up to try a horse of ours; we hadn’t put anything together until we saw the bodyguards, and she talked about her husband John. Still didn’t put it together until AFTER she left. She almost bought the horse, but there was the outbreak in West Palm at the time. Horse ended up going to a home in Michigan instead. She is a very nice lady, never did meet John, though.

I’m sorry I missed the hound show, but had too much to do at the farm and at home. No one has results??

I wasn’t really following the results but I was there until the end. I don’t know the players well enough to really give you much help there.

I just talked to a Florida friend who was /is there. Midland Foxhounds won Best of SHOW…yea, Mason and Marylu! They’re wonderful folks. I also heard the entire Hardaway clan was there to see Ben inducted into the Hall of Fame…again, SO well deserved. I’m so happy for them all.
My friend was out to dinner, so only provided sketchy details. Potomic “came in second”…and Live Oak third??? (won lots of individual classes I hear…which is great. We have a fantastic pack of hounds and the staff work so hard!)
I understand Why Worry of Aiken SC had a great day winning nine trophies! They’re wonderful folks…so dedicated to their hunt, their hounds, and having a great time. I love them all! Congrats to them…
I didn’t get any more details, so like you all, I’m dying to see the results laid out… I have so manjy Im interested in…
So sorry I couldn’t be there!!!

Not picking on the hound club people, but in the past they have been slowwww about releasing/updating results.
Lex – still looking for proper spelling’s to get to my caption info.

The Live Oak kids did such a great job in the Pack class and deservedly won.

Swan, being a VA Hound Show Virgin I didn’t see you!!
We are some excited Midland people!

Oh no - I’m so sorry we didn’t get to meet. It was a great day, wasn’t it. Lots of happy folks and happy hounds.

Why Worry really did well - the lady I spoke with outside the ring had a HUGE grin on her face.

Thanks about the Live Oak Pack Class…we’re very fortunate not only to have wonderful hounds…but a professional full time staff that do a wonderful job readying hounds for shows…
Our hounds hunt like wild men (or should I say focused hounds who catch coyote) but when show time comes, they’re ON!!

However, again, let me congratulate and applaud Midland…I"m SO THRILLED for you to win the big trophey…especially for Ben, if not for Mason, Marylu and all the wonderful staff and members!!

Uploading the pics now.

Here are the pics I have uploaded.
