VA hound Show

Thanks for posting those Lex. there were several of our hunt in the pack class, it was great to see them.

Does anyone know the name of hte kid/hound/pack that won the under 10 junior handler class? It was a pretty girl, but I did not get a name. Not picking, but no one from the hound show has returned my calls for info. Does anyone on here know?
I got a great pic of her getting her trophy but have no info.

Howard County Iron Bridge; will get her name to you later today.

JSwan, argh…looked for you but couldn’t linger long, had a late start to Morven and wanted to visit some of the new attractions on the Stable Tour (which was the best ever, I must add!).

Very frustrating but we had to drag ourselves away far earlier than we wished…so I guess we wil have to do this again soon, eh?

Aha - so that’s what happened! HR said you were “over there” but when I went to look you had vanished. We’ll catch up this season - you MUST come out with us!!

Lex - I love those pictures and am so glad you and your friend could make it.

I’m trying to remember who took the photo of me, HR and Jim Meads - was it you or did you borrow HR’s camera? I didn’t see it on your webshots and can’t remember.

I was pleased that one of our American hounds did well - she’s a bit… big for an American.

I did take that photo and it was in the upload batch. Should have been the 80th one. Didn’t show up in the album for some odd reason. I’ll upload it again right now.

It’s at the end of the album now.

I need to upload the entire album again. There are photos missing that should be there.

I had a lovely chat with Jswan outside the American ring (didn’t realize who I was talking too at first) and got to see the American bitch she was talking about win her class. I also met Wateryglen for about 10 seconds.

Why Worry had a great time at the show and everyone is thrilled with the results. I think the hounds had fun too. The bitches would probably saw the best part was taking mud baths (the humans would NOT agree!) and I think Farley would say his favorite part was the kennel door in the entered boys run getting stuck open, letting him go out visiting for a few minutes!

I’m really glad I got to see some of the American ring this time, as I am used to the American hounds from AKC shows and really wanted to see the pack hounds. We all enjoyed the pack classes as well and I got some really bad cell phone photos. Yesterday I got to go to the Blue Ridge puppy show and see all their lovely English hounds. That was wonderful too, as I didn’t really get to see any of the English rings at the hound show. I absolutely fell in love with one of their older bitches!

George, Jeanie and the hounds (and terriers) are on vacation in VA for the rest of the week, then heading up to Bryn Mayr.

Uploaded the album again finally. Got almost all of the pics now.

Go here.

Wow, Lex, fabulous pictures!

Those are nowhere near the quality of the originals. I had to resize and recompress them which lowered the quality significantly. Webshots seems to go dumb if I try to upload a lot of files or a significant amount of them over 100KB.

HR-
Sent you a PM re: name of junior handler from HCIBH.

If anyone can supply names, that would be swanky. Just so people who look at it know who and what they are looking at.

I just posted my pix from the hound show to VirginiaEquestrian.com. They’re not up yet but keep checking.
SteeleR - thanks for the kiddie info - they contacted me.

Done -

And for the record - I said you resembled the wrong celebrity.

For all the COTH posters - Lex does not resemble Colin Firth. Lex resembles a young Colin Farrell.

This middle aged tubby lady spent a very pleasant day!!!

I talk and think like Colin Farrell too.

Wow!

Yes I sold programs all morning and had a long & lovely chat with John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted fame and his lovely wife! Yup…he’s my new BFF!! We chatted about polo. He’s coming up June 28th to play in a charity match at Great Meadows to benifit Hospice. AND being joined by that model/polo player Nacho Figueras (sp?)…hubba, hubba. He had never been to a hound show so I explained it all but left out the part about “it’s a bit like watching grass grow”… for the un-initiated common man I mean…Wonder who’s tailgate he ended up at? I thought Casanova’s was THE BOMB followed by Reedy Creek hunt maybe. Oh I dunno…they were all fabulous. It’s quite a tradition & competition ya know. Everyones a winner. My complete admiration for the hunt ladies that make those extravaganzas go!!! Wow!!!

Casanova’s big bitch WAS huge, her name was Fern? Gorgeous, Fabulous. Personal fav was Warrentons Cosmo - reserve champion crossbred.
And some drama in the American Ring - one of my Ashland Bassets Masters was aprentice judge with Marty Woods. Aggie DelaGarza ended up having to judge the American Champion hound class by herself when Marty chose to recuse himself from making the pick due to one of his hounds winning a crossbred championship over in another ring. How cool of him to be so considerate and he backed her all the way. But it happened fast and wow…talk about no pressure!!! A basset person judging no less much less one who was making her first appearance at the show as a judge. Mind you she is a very experienced trainer, owner & judge in other breed showing (non basset/non foxhound) so she has the street creds but still! I was clerking in that ring and you coulda heard a pin drop!
Wow!

Marty later said she picked the right hound. A Potomac hound.
