Very premature foal

They have said he’s on no painkillers, like it’s a good thing.

You’d hope vets there would advise a pain med.
I’d hate to think they’d ignore signs of discomfort.
But the whole thing seems to be approaching fustercluck :unamused:

Infection or no…how is that leg ever going to be the same length as the other. I can’t believe they didn’t obilerate the growth plates on that fetlock. I know there probably isn’t a lot of height from that particular area but just no…how we ever got to a fusion on a foal? They probably would have been better off to amputate and use a prosthesis? Oops, sorry I mentioned it. That is probably the next step .

This poor little critter needs to be set free of his earthly defective body.

It may not and the other leg may compensate by going over at the knee. I know it’s a thing with tendon surgery (for injury) at a bad (growthy) age so am extrapolating to bone issues causing something similar.

When 7 is finally allowed to cross the Rainbow Bridge, I bet KVS will design and sell all kinds of merch inspired by that event. T-shirts, keychains, Christmas ornaments, tote bags, etc. Some configuration of a tiny horse with wings and a halo. Because she seems compelled to make $ off this poor creature’s earthly journey, even when it’s over.

What is even more sad is, people will buy that stuff.

Of course she will. Rich people didn’t get rich because they were stupid about money. I blame the vets more than the owner. In every video, the vet is encouraging that all will eventually be well. Katie will now need the vet to say we fought the good fight, but things are not improving or her followers will go bonkers. She’s not all about the money
She actually told her followers to not set up a go fund me for 7 early on.

Don’t get me wrong, I think this foal should have been euthanized long ago. But I don’t believe the owner is the devil incarnate.

Did y’all note what the vet said about needing to give his legs extra support whenever poor Seven hits a growth spurt?

Excuse me, but WTAF???

How can anyone think this is ethical? He is a quarter horse. Height-wise he will grow to 2-3 years old. Adding body and muscle will go until 5-6ish.

How can anyone think this is the right thing to do?

Did you see this post?

@trubandloki, that is absolutely appalling! It is all about the f***ing money!

Social media is how she makes some of her money. I don’t believe she’s keeping 7 alive solely for the money, but if she can take 5 minutes to repost a video and make a bunch of money, why not. I know I would.

I thought about that, and I think he is just so used to the pain - it’s all he has really ever known - that he just doesn’t display the usual signs. This, to him, is life. He has no concept that he could be pain-free. The vets say he isn’t in pain because he just doesn’t have the usual signs of it.

She has merch for the goat that passed away - and people asked for it. I can’t even.

Aghh, a friend was telling me about a video she saw on line, about somebody and a mouse…then she said the same lady puts on all these posts about a very premature foal. Yes she was talking about Seven, and my immediate response, of “that poor little thing” got an amazed look. Her argument is, well at least he is alive, well yes, yes he is, but I am still not convinced on his quality of life.

Then we got into a discussion about a friend who is selling a 23 year old, maintenance free mare, her kids have grown out of her, but the mare is 100% fit healthy sane and safe, ready to be a step up horse for a kiddy who knows the basics. Seems we have very different views on both these things.

Ugh. I hate when this is the go-to comment to justify prolonging the suffering of any being.

While it still makes me cringe to see the way he moves, I was… pleasantly surprised by how active he was in the video from Katie visiting him. There was life in his eyes and his coat/body condition has improved. It made me smile to watch him playing with the ball lol while I still question the ethics here it’s nice to not see him shuffling around like a zombie.

Just saw the Seven updates and yes, seeing him behave emotionally like the young foal he is was refreshing.

Meanwhile each leg still has issues, 2 require above average support. At some point one or more of those legs will collapse.

I think your crystal ball is right :crystal_ball:
& I no longer look for her vids.

But - at the risk of bring redundant  - Seven has never had a normal Life.
All he knows is where he’s at now.
I can’t say for sure I wouldn’t go this route if I had KVS’s bank account :expressionless:
& of course, he’s a surefire moneystream for her :moneybag::dollar:

I agree with you 100% @2DogsFarm. Luckily, KSV’s videos have stopped popping up in my Facebook feed so I am not seeing the videos.

I hate to be Ms. Doom and Gloom, because I’m temperamentally an optimistic person. But horses being horses, I agree. At some point, one or more of those legs are going to break down. Then what will KVS do?
