I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to Jessica Springsteen’s Vindicat W? Haven’t seen him since WEF. I know Jessica’s been in europe all summer but she used her other GP horse (Lisona) not Vindicat. I hope he’s okay!!!
This article says him and Juvina have been having tendon problems. Bummer. I just thought they might have been saving those horses for shows later in 2015 and early 2016 for the Olympic Trials.
Come to think of it, Katie Dinan hasn’t shown Nouget since WEF either. I was pretty surprised that she didn’t ride him in the World Cup Finals.

Thank you for posting the article. I thought that Georgina was giving Juvina the summer off and will bring her back at WEF. What a bummer for the two of them. At least Lilli’s been stepping up but Jessica doesn’t have a second horse to fall back on. There seems to be a few horses MIA probably due to injury.
I’m so sad for Georgina. I saw Washington Square and Lilli go at the Masters in LA. These are both wonderful horses (HAPPY to take them off her hands if need be ), but as she says in the article, there’s no horse like Juvina. They had such a partnership together.

Who knows…still time for Jan Tops to find one for her to buy before the deadline. There might be a lot of movement of horses as WC qualifiers start up.

It’ll certainly be exciting to see it all unfold as the deadline approaches… Jan will find Jessica a new horse for sure, but the competition for that 4th spot will be intense (assuming and hoping Azur, Cortes and Voyeur stay healthy.) I think the US sleeper will be Audrey Coulter on Jos Verlooy’s old ride Domino. Have no idea if they bought it with Olympics in mind, but it’s the type of horse for it, and they’re already looking lovely together after only a couple of shows.
I’ve heard a lot about what top dressage horses have been going for these days, but what about superstar showjumpers?

The stallion Armitages Boy didn’t meet his reserve at auction with a final bid of 2.8M euro (a little over $3.1M) if that gives you an idea. He’s a solid 1.60 performer, but not what I would consider the superstar class.

I think the rumor mill says that Vindicat was sold for $1.6million. Though I think that’s kind of low for a gold medal winning horse.
Then you have a freak things like Paloubet being sold for $16 million! Though he was purchased by Qatar, and Janika said the offers just kept getting higher that eventually it would have been foolish not to sell. 16 million can buy a lot of prospects!

Agreed, that was a very, very good purchase only possible because 1)Belgium didn’t make the Olympics 2)She trains with Axel and Harrie Smolders. Audrey would have to ride the pants off him at WEF and Spruce if she has any chance of going though.
It seems like they’ve tried putting Royce on some teams, but if you ask me the one they are grooming for the next Olympics is Todd Minikus and Babalou 41

Katie and Nougat were having some stopping problems at combinations last summer, even saw her trainer come off him in a training class (at a combination).
I too thought Juvina and Vindicat were just having ‘off’ time, bummer, really like both (all 3 including Nougat) horses.
What about Reed Kessler? Will she be a contender for the Olympics again? Or are her goals totally different know she’s based in Euro?

With a couple of key horses out due to injury and rehab, whose left?

Laura Kraut, Lauren Hough, Todd as SlamDunk mentioned, Margie, Lucy Davis, Charlie Jayne (Chill still has the goods to actually ride on a team), and any number of people who could step up over the next nine months if they go for it - Jack Towell, Brianne (where is Nice de Prissey, btw?), Ali Wolff, Jessica if they find her the right horse, Audrey as mentioned, Ashlee Bond, Will Simpson, and I’m sure I’m missing others. We are in a very, very fortunate position with three riders in the top 10 to anchor our team, along with a number of team veterans waiting in the wing, not to mention a lot of up and coming self-financed kids. Robert Ridland is definitely feeling good at the moment.

I agree and I think it’s quite wise of him to keep rotating through riders at all the Nation’s Cups so that the Braines, Lucys and Jessica’s of the world can acclimatize to the extra pressure that comes from riding on and for a team.

Isn’t she competing on Cylanna at the moment? Not sure about her other mounts.

She rode Cylana at the Nations Cup Finals. I believe she isn’t a high contender right now because her results have been inconsistent but of course there’s plenty of time for that to change.

We have so many riders who have horses that can be an option for Rio. I haven’t seen Nice de prissey or Chela LS in a long time. I guess they’re out with an injury?

I believe Chela was retired (or maybe that was another one of AB’s horses?) and Brianne is injured, so isn’t riding at all.
