Virginia Foxhound Show

:winkgrin:The countdown and headcount begins here! Who’s going!?
I’m working it so come by and see me near the registration tent; I’ll be selling programs Sunday morning then clerking the American ring in afternoon. Attending the seminar and dinner the evening before also.

And how about the Museum of Hounds & Hunting being kicked outa the Morven Park mansion!!? Really gonna miss that. Morvens new director is problematic I hear…
And whose tailgate will you be attending? Me at the judges lunch but will do the rounds of course too!!
Fingers crossed for good weather!!

We’ll be there!

My husband and I will be there to see all the hounds and cheer on the Iroquois. One of our jt-MFHs, Dr. Jack van Nagell, will be a judge in the American ring, so you’ll meet him!

Looking forward to it, I like that show. Hadn’t heard about the Museum of Hounds and Hunting getting moved, though. Wonder where they’ll go?

I’ll be there–SO is thinking about leaving NJ for Virginia :D, so we’d love to meet new people, see old friends, and do recon on which of the Virginia hunts would be right for us (well, really him, I distinguish myself mostly at breakfasts and teas:D)!

(raises hand exctedly) Mememememe!! Pick me!!!
I’ll be there!!
This event is among my faves of the year. EVERYbody’s there. So fun.

I’ll be there, invisible as usual. Looking forward to it.

me too !

I’m planning to be there, will wander about and say hi to everyone I know.

Putting in my request to the weather gods now for a nice day.

Hopefully it will be a bit cooler for all you folks. It sure got hot last year.

Hey Lex -we never actually saw the tomato you brought last year ever again. Did we turn her off’a horse and hound that much? : o )

I never saw or heard from her again either despite my attempts to contact her after that day. I got the subtle impression, after meeting her in person, she had some problems (as in self-esteem issues or whatever the case may have been) like many of the women I end up meeting and she clearly wasn’t comfortable around any of us for the short time she was there. I’m not sure why that was exactly but I was nice to her, you were nice to her, she got to talk to Melvin, what more can ya do?

I will be there, Saturday, and Sunday, I hope I get to meet some of you

I will be there along with several Amwell Valley Hound members. First time for many of us and we are excited and ready for a party, of course after we take in all the “hound experience” we can absorb. Looking forward to meeting many of you!

Her loss, Lex. You’re a good egg.

Hope to run into y’all at the show.

Aw, why does it have to be on a holiday weekend?? (goes off to pout in corner)

JSwan and Hunter’s Rest it would be great to see you! Alas, airfare is astronomical with the holiday. Bummer. Will have to wait for next fun event in VA for an excuse to come home and visit.

HR- saw you post about your trip to Santa Barbara. If you end up coming through Los Angeles, let me know. I’ll take you out for a ride.

I’m going for the first time and need some help. What do women wear on Saturday during the day at the park? Same question different day - Sunday during the actual show? Are you supposed to wear something different during breakfast? Are all the women wearing hats - if yes, what style? Also, any idea what I’m supposed to wear to the dinner at the Red Fox Inn that I’ve been invited to as someone’s date? Gee, I sound a little fashion conscious. Nah! Oh - better question - what’s the parking situation like?

Dress like you would if you were going to a winery on a nice sunny day. Not formal by any means, but neat and comfortable.

Thanks, Lex. Will we be wearing the same thing to the Red Fox Inn dinner, or will we be expected to have changed into something dressier? And I keep reading about the parking pass thing. I know that’s for the hunt. I’m assuming parking is not an issue for those of us watching? It really shows that I don’t know my way around up there.

I have no idea what dinner you are talking about. If you are going to The Red Fox Inn on Saturday evening, it’s for something separate from the show dinner which is held in the tent below the mansion after the hound seminar in the early evening. Just wear something nice looking and comfortable to the dinner as it will be outside and do the same for the show as it’s an all day affair so you will want to be comfortable. It gets VERY hot and humid so dress accordingly for the weather. The reserved passes and parking spots are for Hunt staff. Guests just park in the regular parking area down the way from the mansion. You may want to bring a nice folding sport chair with beverage holder to keep you comfortable if you’re planning to be sitting and watching.

Well I’m not the fashion police but…

Nice Jeans/slacks/polo shirt fine for show day and hanging around. With your hunt logo of course! Remember you might be jumped on by a hound! Most common hats is a sporty one like a straw or baseball cap. Parking will be a hike from the show rings so wear good shoes. If muddy=muckers or sneakers. The show is NOT a dress up affair IMHO. A skirt/top works too especially if its hot. Think sporty not froo-froo. Leave the feathered hats home but there might be a few there. Red Fox is just a “country inn” kinda place; not froo-froo.

And how sad…Lex lost his tomato!!! Poor baby…plenty more of them on the vine! Come see me; I’ll fix ya up!!
I know lotsa tomatoes!!

Thanks, WateryGlen, I feel so much better!!!

Can’t wait!

Looking forward to our “girls” weekend and catching up with everyone. Funny how our fellas passed up on an opportunity to spend 8 hours round trip with us gals chatting up our VA adventure along the way.

A good number from my hunt have been working with leashing training several times a week… We wouldn’t miss the opportunity to cheer our hounds on, and shop (lottsa, lottsa), and dine, and go out for a lovely ride with Hunter’s Rest (and hopefully Wateryglen too) before we head home! What a glorious weekend it will be.

Thanks ladies for the dress code insight. Wouldn’t have given it a thought until running out the door bright and early Saturday morning:D
