Virginia Foxhound Show

“Nothing. Of. Interest.”
!!!11
JSwan in a beautiful frock?
HR showing a little shoulder?
WGlen at her smiling best?
OOPisces slavering over the English huntsmen???
Nothing of interest indeed.
Lex you’re fired as the official houseboy of the hunting set. Hmphfff.

Most of the people were leaving or had left already -including you, who left the tent area right after I arrived- before the show was over. I saw no reason to stick around with nobody to talk to and no food to eat. I did get a few good photos from the twenty minutes or so that I was there but it was harder to get good shots this year as things seemed to be moved back a bit so more could see from outside the tent. It was also very difficult to hear the show master. He would shout out things like the classes and results but wouldn’t shout them at the crowd (for the most part) so they could hear him. I may be mistaken, but I think I saw Melvin out there taking some pics, though I didn’t get a close look. He was looking spry as ever.

Thanks for the report Wateryglen!! I had heard LOH had done well…we’re having our puppy show this coming Wed. so I’ll see everyone and hear all the details!
I"m thrilled Midland won the Performance Pack too…they’re some of my favorite folks too…
Would have loved to be there to see everyone…hopefully next year!!!
Thanks to all of you Virginia hunt folks who put this grand show on…it’s fantstic!!!

Was that a typo?
It is LIVE Oak Hounds…

:eek:Typo yes!! Sorry and corrected!!! Thank you to our new training level friend for pointing it out to the fatigued WG!!!
And there I was…carrying around that tomato ALL DAY LONG and Lex doesn’t even come to get it…he’s SUCH the hunting snob I tell ya!
No food left? !! There were plenty of snacks & booze till the show was over! And my ex was bartending even! :p:p

I’m especially proud because Maximus, the Grand Champion, was the one I picked out at the Southern Hound Show as my personal favorite. He’s a beautiful hound with a lot of black (OF COURSE< I like pintos). Heading to LOH this am to see our Puppy Show…so I’m sure I’ll hear all the thrilling details.
Daphne has bred one of her hunt mares to Counterclaim, my black homozygous pinto stallion…so between Maximus and this foal, I hope I’m pursuading her to be a color enthusiast. For so long we’ve had too many white hounds which no one but staff can tell apart!!!

P.S. Thought I’d better put the disclaimer on this that they (like me) breed for quality first, not color, haha!!!

JMHO!

I thought Maximus was absolutely pretty but…Not what I think of as a typical English type. Mind you I know there are “types” of english hounds but I don’t know a lot about them. Someone edumacate me here. He looked kinda…pennmarydel-ish to me…small head and very small snout ie: short/pointy. Ears longer than I think of w/english hounds and he wasn’t thick either. Built like I think an american/pennmarydel would be. Tucked up. He looked like a very heavily americanized crossbred. Then I looked at a hound show in the UK article by Jim Meads in a local publication and saw pics of that type. Is it a Fell type???

Either way, he is gorgeous and showed fabulously. Super mover too.
A total credit to his hunt.
It was hard to pick winners. Everyone brought their best.
