Warmblood Import Nightmare

I want a back door the President of the United States. I have quite a few issues I would like to bring up  . Why in the WORLD would the President be interested in an expensive imported horse and the USDA testing methods? Like really, I think he has more important matters on his plate at the moment.

Right?!

Ok that is… delusional. No wonder the USDA and Jetpets doesn’t want to work with these people anymore. This is obviously devastating but they need someone on their team to be rational and guide them through the decision making during this mess because mom and trainer are really not helping.

Also I’m so thankful I left Facebook right now.

B/c I’m nosy AF can someone PM the name of the trainer?

It’s at the end of the train wreck of a letter OP shared in this thread…

Wow! This thread took a nasty turn. Some of you actually looked up the mom on FB and are openly mocking her!?! Some of y’all need to get a life.

OP, please let us know how the test turns out. I am really hoping this ends in the family’s favor.

Sure FB would be entertaining but absolutely the last place Id go for unbiased facts.

I have no idea who the mom is. I did go to the trainer’s page.

I am part of the group that finds some of the things said there to be on the less than realistic side but I still want this to turn out well for this young rider and her horse. I can not imagine how hard this must be for a kid.

Yeah, it’s pretty disappointing…

Mom is very active in the trainer’s post in comments, and self-identifies as the mom. Her posts about this issue are likewise public and she has the GoFundMe link on her wall as well.

And yes, to whoever said that, I am in fact mocking the idea of contacting the POTUS on a daily basis about this.

I’m staying far away from this mess on Facebook. But OP asked for input. My input is that this trainer is acting like a child and if mom is really going on Facebook seeking out a back channel to the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES she’s handling this just as bad. I get that they’re devastated and desperate but this helps nothing. Like I said, put your feelings down on a piece of paper, put it in a box, and then burn the box. Then let your attorney work it out.

After reading some of the comments on the FB post, I’m thinking quite a few people are out of touch with reality. I can forgive the trainer her exclamation points (although I definitely would not have sent that many to the head vet. Yikes!). What I can’t forgive is an apparent industry of people (judging primarily by profile pictures) that think a potentially contagious horse should just be released or have a parade of people “visiting” him. Thinking that tweeting at the POTUS is the best use of your time is nuts. Someone suggested contacting Georgina Bloomberg, like she would have some sort of pull with the USDA (or would even care to). This is not some crime of justice, this is the government following its protocols.

This sentence in the FB post is pretty telling, “Please send an email to the USDA,[list of organizations/people], and any group that thinks killing our horse for a disease that has been eradicated for years is wrong!” I’m genuinely curious if this trainer reads what she is writing. Of course it’s not “wrong” to kill a horse that may have a disease that has been eradicated for years.

The only ones I feel sorry for are the 15yo girl and the horse. The horse should have been euthanized right away or at least before 8 weeks had elapsed.

Also it appears as though the final test has been postponed until Thursday.

Did they retain an attorney? Did they get the only attorney in the country that advises clients to state their side of the case on FB and across other social media as well as contacting POTUS and the press?

@Temecula Jumper, from the quote above I have a sincere question. Do you realize this disease still exists in other countries? I read that quote to say you do not realize that.

I am still jingling for this horse and this family.

The trainer says in the comments of the Facebook post (where they ask everyone to share this letter) that they do have an attorney. I do not know if that means they actually retained or one just called one up to ask for advice.

I do feel bad for all involved. I didn’t mean to make light of the situation, just well, contacting the POTUS is not a good use of their time. I sincerely hope this all works out in favor of the family.

But I do stand behind the USDA for protecting the horses already in the US. Remind me never to import…(not that it would ever be financially possible for me in the first place!).

I’m not the one who wrote that quote. I am neither the trainer nor the mother, but they are very good people dealing with an impossible situation the best way they know how.

The link to the trainers FB and GoFundMe page did show up on my FB, looked at the GFM page. Seem to be under the impression there is an option to send the horse back if they can raise the money. My understanding is no they can’t, not with that test result.

Sorry for the confusion.
Thank you for clarifying.

Because I’m on break at work and have nothing else to do but read the trainers facebook posts:

The trainer posted a week ago that the horse COULD have been sent back to Europe, but the trainer/owners would have had to foot the bill for the flight back and would have had to try and sell the horse themselves. If true, I can’t imagine why they didn’t pursue that avenue. The cost would have been far less than what they are accruing now.
