Another good thing about the BBC is that the whole day is available for viewing on recorded video. Of course, it’s still streaming so you can’t let a chapter download and then view without buffering–or at least I don’t seem to be able to.[/QUOTE]

I think that must depend on your internet connection, because it sometimes works for me and sometimes doesn’t. The buffering never lasts long.

So are the Germans and New Zealanders. And they still have Jung and Sam and MT to go. Sigh!

All I can do is hope against hope that the Germans misread the XC the way they did at WEG. But, given this particular course, that seems unlikely. :frowning:

Ditto the thanks to viney and equibrit.

Can anyone tell me what ‘expat’ is? Is it a piece of software? Can I install it and then access the BBC stream and hear Ian Stark?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

This is it, right?

:DAnd I get to wake up at 10:45 in the morning because my tv is nice enough to show it at a reasonable hour…

Yup, that’s expat shield. I did not accept their toolbar. Here it is on CNET:

One extra benefit that they offer is that since you are going through a proxy, you are surfing the web anonymously. Given the user comments, I would use it with a browser like Firefox or Dragon Comodo that has an ad blocker.

can you use the Expat shield on a Mac? I tried to download to my MAc and just got gobbled
gook…

I’m so dissapointed the us could not pull together a decent test :frowning:

and here we go

so far on tv, they are still mucking around with soccer. Where is the equestrian that was supposed to be on 10 minutes ago? Oh wait-it’s over! Oh wait they are going to an interview! WTF! Where is the equestrian that was promised!!!

Ditto that, DeucesWild11

Just came home on lunch break and switched on the tv in the middle of Mary King’s test. I was so excited!!

If you are getting the BBC it has apparently stopped…on catch up it says its coming later, but doesn’t specify when, which is annoying.

As for NBC, no idea because I’ve given up.

Well, that was disappointing. I don’t think I got to watch very much dressage. I saw maybe 4 or 5 riders, but that was it. The station didn’t change from soccer until well after 10:45, but then they went to commercial a lot, and now it’s back to another soccer game.

Bleh.

What a shame at the end of Karen’s ride. Its seems alot of the horses are tense and spooky.

Looks as if they don’t have a Mac version. :frowning:

Andrew Hoy’s ride was lovely.

I missed the very beginning of Karen’s test but I thought it looked good considering he was ready to go for a gallop right then.

I am guessing the judges are forgiving explosive halts at the end. For many of the rides I saw, the audience is bursting into loud applause almost before the horse sets all 4 down, and off goes the horse! Even though I am sure the rider, groom, trainer, owner and everyone has whispered to dear horse in warm-up that this is the Olympics and he must please be his very best self …

Ingrid is still the lowest score so far although Abraxxas barely halted at all, due to the enthusiastic audience appreciation. At least he confirmed that such powerful horses are not making it easy!

Does anyone know who was doing the commentary when they were showing the dressage tests on network TV? I thought they were very good, esp. the woman - seemed to know her stuff.

The woman is Melanie Smith Taylor

I wish they’d shown all three of the Americans, because now I’m going to have to go digging through the livestream feed to find Tiana’s ride.

look into tunnelbear.com they have a Mac version. I used it this morning on my pc. The little version is free but limited amount of data to 500MB per month. I used up 1/2 the MB in 3-4 hours. The next bigger version is 5$ , prob worth it. I used it for the bbc site and heard all the commentary. Liked it alot. Now I am going to try expat.

Ok the live stream is going ok for me, I’m watching the replay. Keep an eye on the counter. When something happens and you lose the stream, that’s ok, wehn you get it back, just move your slider along to the one you want to see. Actually working well that way.

After watching the dressage of various riders/horses I think the US was held to very high standard today and we probably should have gotten more points than we did. I thought some rides that were scored a bit higher were not as technically correct. We can hope for two very good rides tomorrow, and bit of the Pan Am luck – all horses to finish on dressage score! wouldn’t that be really cool! I think we can get ALL of our horses around clean (maybe with time.) Wouldn’t that be great?
