Waterproof/ resistant shoe boots for KY 3 Day?

Well it’s almost time for XC day and my old hikers for mucking etc. are falling apart. What are your favs?! It’s time to shop !!

Dubarrys are ubiquitous at KY3D.

I go to tractor supply and buy the $20 rubber boots with cute patterns on them, then toss them after, before my flight.

I would love to buy some Durbury’s, but they are pricey!

Are they comfy?

I get these TSC boots too & if you have a high arch, you’ll be more comfortable if you add an insole with some arch support.
Otherwise, they’re comfortable, if a bit warm on hot days. They have a fabric lining, but don’t breathe like leather.

I love LL Bean! If I don’t need the height of Dubarrys, I wear LL Bean. Breath well and are bomb proof.

Brings to mind the image I saw one year, way back before they did the park improvements … the stadium area was a slip and slide foamy mud covered melted chocolate mess and an overdressed princess was picking her way with expensive dress sandals. My daughters stared at her. They’d never seen the polo crowd.

Then there are the practical folks.

Hahaha not the best situation for sandals for sure!

I’ve groomed exclusively at competitions in Sperry Duck boots, and I just love them. My feet stay dry, and you can put your own insoles in them to make them even comfier. They look cute (even when I’m filthy), and you can wear cute socks with them. Finally wore through the bottom of the sole after 5 years which is pretty good with the amount of wear they got. I got these to replace them to change it up a bit, and they’ve been pretty comfortable.

I burned through a pair of Dubarry’s in 6 months. The company wouldn’t replace them because they said they aren’t meant for farm work…

:exploding_head: then
Did they tell you what the boots are intended for?
Let me guess:
*A leisurely snipe hunt with your genteel friends?
Servants carrying the picnic basket.
*Strolling your acreage to chat with the gamekeeper on misty days?
Dratted poachers!
*A visit to your stables to see the Huntsman?
:unamused:

Well, based on the setup at LRK3DE, they apparently are for standing in a bucket of water serving sparkling wine

To the OP, I always pack a pair or two of my Merrell hiking shoes, they tend to stay comfortable for the full day, and they have waterproof/breathable options (for days you don’t need more height on the boot).

The last few years that I went, I wore birkenstocks. As long as it isn’t cold and rainy, I go for comfort. I probably wore them in the rain too! lol

I have the tall BOGS and they hold up pretty well for mucking. I used to like the Dublin River boots but the quality has gone down within the past year and they fell apart within a couple months of daily use. Kind of a bummer as the Dublin boots were the most comfortable but definitely too expensive to buy a new pair every couple months.

I have the LL bean duck boots. Waterproof, comfortable, great policy on repair/replacement.

I have Sperry shoes for summer barn stuff. I spray those with waterproof spray.

That’s what they use them for at the Hampton Classic as well. But I bought mine in 2005 and still wearing them, they are starting to look a little shabby but clean up well. I wore them around the barn, even hacked in them and now that I don’t ride I wear them to the office in snow and rain and get lots of compliments on them. But what I love most about them is the Gore-tex lining which keeps my feet so cool in hot, humid summer weather, unlike many rubber boots.
