We need some cute Kitty pics to cheer us up

That’s quite a fancy dressage cat.

Maybe try cat fencing? I know it’s ugly but it should work.

Figaro chilling with me while I budget figuring out how to pay down CareCredit on top of existing bills, and figuring out who has the best price on Hill’s c/d food since all three need to be on it per the vets.

If you find a decent price, let me know. I have looked all over and cannot find this for under $45 a case. I wish they had a discount price for buying in bulk. 2 cats on this 2x a day? Ow and you have 3. And min e can’t fill in with dry food either; plus the c/d dry is $$$! They have us over a barrel don’t they? :unamused:

They get a mix of pate and dry; the 5.5 oz pate case is $72.19 with Chewy’s autoship and they divvy a can three ways each twice a day. I know horses that cost less to feed per day than these guys.

I preface these questions with the fact that I know nothing about cats or cat medical issues.

Isn’t there some more reasonably priced food that would be good for them? Does the vet know how much the food costs? Is there a possibility that a home made version could be made? (I’m remembering my grandmother who used to cook both dog and cat food for her pets.)

Yes, the vets do know. and here is the HI-larious part: not one bit or ingredient in that pet food requires a prescription. Not. One. Bit. But it is “prescription” food and as such costs a fortune. And not only do the vets know it, they don’t even apologize for it.

I had to give up Duncan’s prescription food when I moved. It was just for him and cost anywhere between $110 and$125 a month. ow. ow. ow

You can substitute just regular canned food, but have to recognize (as I do) that you are walking on a razor blade waiting for a re-occurrence of the issue. Knock on wood…for me and Mr Duncan, so far so good. It’s been 2-3 years since his last (costly) trip to the vet for bladder/urinary issues.

That’s awful.

What ingredients does it have/not have that make it so special? Do any of the vets have a vested interest in “prescribing” it?

I sincerely hope they do not. Look at the ingredients - I never di until someone on CoTH pointed it out that none of them required a prescription. It was an eye opener for sure.

I had to share this one of Schuyler.

How is that even possible!

Beats me, but he was even taking a bath like that! Such a weirdo. Hard to believe he’s only 1 year old on the 16th. He’s got to be somewhere between 15 - 20 lbs.

This thread is so long but I don’t think I’ve ever showed my kitty and I love her to death. This is Cleo, and she is 7 years old. I am not sure of her breed. I got her off craigslist. She does kind of remind me of ragamuffins though.

She’s gorgeous!

And those ears say she’s at least part Maine Coon, to me.

Thank you. I think she’s gorgeous too, of course!

And do you think so? I’ve had people ask me if she’s maine coon. She is not as big as them but she is pretty big. I just weighed her the other day and she is 12 lbs.

A friend has Maine Coons, so those ears are familiar! One of hers has a similar coat, too. She has him shaved every summer.

But that guy is about 22 pounds. :flushed:
