WEC Ocala shows to run under NSBA

Don’t test @Renn_aissance 's alligator!

I have nothing to hide. You can test my alligator. He’s fed only free-range parents who coach from the rail in the short stirrup. And they’re all cleansing this week, so he won’t even have a trace of caffeine from their venti non-fat PSLs.

So you say. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/13/golf/alligator-florida-golf-course-spt-intl/index.html
Your alligator may have ingested the odd Golfer without your knowledge, and then where will you be? Caffeine, Gin and Tonic, and god knows what else, if your gator has et one of those new sort of fast and loose golfer types.

That’s not my gator. As I said, mine is on a very careful diet of parents. That one has eaten at least one politician. You can tell by the size- blowsy politicians are very filling but cause indigestion. How dare you accuse me of deceiving the testers by presenting one plain bay- er, green- instead of another?! Next you’ll tell me I swap them before the jog, too.

Also, that video is why I won’t go to Florida. I’m good with snakes. I don’t mind bears, I ignore the bear and the bear ignores me, it’s all very cordial. Gators on the golf course? That golf course belongs to the dinosaurs now. They’re not dead and I don’t want to be. Have fun on the links, dinosaur. Practice your putting. Please don’t eat my husband while he’s out there.

Thank you for chiming in - I did see another press release or post last week that explained that the NSBA rulebook was being feverishly updated by the end of November so this now makes a lot more sense to me! I think there was a lack of clarity in the urgency to beat the USEF to the news announcement and it seems like everything is falling into place. If NSBA would add western dressage then this would make my life so much easier!!!

Can’t wait to watch this all play out!

Do the NSBA rules allow pelham bridles? :upside_down_face:

Not to mention the fact that you CAN view the NSBA world show judge’s cards for the hunter classes. @Daventry, the score cards use the shorthand, which is fine.

Why hide the cards? Why not just educate the members on how to read the cards instead? This summer I took the green reinstatement and campaigned my horse in dressage and western dressage. It has been incredible to actually see the scores and to better understand where the improvements can be made. It also helps to better understand what the judge saw from their vantage point vs mine.

When I looked at the NSBA score cards, it was not that hard to understand what the judge meant and why the horses scored as they did. I found it refreshing for a change! USHJA could use a LOT more transparency and this is one way to provide it. Besides, they could always consider a scribe as with USDF so their eyes never leave the horse. Then maybe the riders could actually get some REAL feedback. The times, they are a-changing! And it’s a good thing! Maybe a change will do this group some good!

Yeah, you want to be careful…my trainer’s neurotic Blue Heeler/Chihuahua cross rescue dog is on three prescriptions and six supplements for separation anxiety. Don’t let the alligator eat him!

Good god, a Blue Heeler Chihuahua cross? :flushed: I hope that was an accident. It’s hard to think of a worse combination if you want a sane animal.

@skydy I just made that up, poetic license and all… trying to think of what sort of little dog would be Most Likely to be Highly Medicated for calming pharmaceuticals and supplements

Well, you did an excellent job. I can’t think of a combination that would be more horrifying. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I exhibit my gator in FEI classes. If he eats your dog and tests positive for an anxiolytic I’ll have to blame the grooms. Or sabotage. Or maybe cross-contamination of his feed. Did a parent pet your dog?

That’s a good question. If they have jumper classes they’re going to have to examine the allowable bits issue.

Pelhams are definitely allowed, but no one rein connector thingies. It is mostly punishing mouthpieces that are illegal. Plus Myler Ds with Hooks must use curb chain, then they are OK.

The show may be run the same, but what rules will be enforced ?

I don’t understand this worry that WEC will be the wild wild west all of a sudden just because it’s not under the USEF umbrella.

NSBA rules. They are working on their new H/J division rules. I would expect the drug (and many other) rules to echo USEF’s. As with any new entity, there will probably be some tweaking involved.

I think this is an exciting prospect for those who show in Florida. I look forward to hearing from those COTHers who attend the show about how it works out. From what I’ve read here, this seems to be a great alternative to the lousy facilities of HITS Ocala.

It isn’t a new entity, though. The NSBA has been around for years.

If it’s under NSBA rules, then the show will not be run the same. .

I understood they were making new rules for the new H/J division. Is that not true?
