WEC Premier Equitation Cup 2024

Katie must have missed last year’s land and hold the counter canter Eq final dispute.

I would like to see Mae shorten her reins, particularly the curb (respective to the snaffle,) and show a little more connection from hocks to hand. That is also why I did not have her in my top group. I thought that by the end of her second round, the track got away from her a hair, and I attributed it to not being able to effectively influence the horse’s body.

I also felt the horse got away from her in the second round. Didn’t see the connection she needed to get into the top group. But I’m just sitting at home, so things could look very different in person.

Maddie’s test was lovely!

Super slick from Maddie. I think she left a little room for Eleanor if she feels able to be less conservative.

Top two were excellent.

I personally preferred Eleanor’s ride with the exception of the half step of “visibly thinking about the counter lead” in the second turn. I liked her more forward ride. I would keep her on top, but I can certainly see it going either way.

An excellent performance from the top 2!

Someone please keep us up to date on the placings.

It’s not going to be me. I’m an adult. It’s my bedtime. I struggled to stay awake for the class itself.

Can someone remind me what happened in Olivia Sweetnam’s second round that would have knocked her from 3rd completely out of the ribbons? I had her with a pretty high score still so I obviously missed something big

Lead change issues if I remember correctly.

:woman_shrugging: it sounds like a lot of us missed whatever it was

Lol the bouquets are bigger than the girls!

I think Olivia was the one that had a late rail at the oxer by the in gate. It was really hard to catch on the live stream and the commentators didn’t notice it either. It kind of bounced and fell right as the camera cut away but you can see the jump crew walking in to replace it a fence or two later. Maybe that dropped her out?

Man. I forgot how much the trainer awards are for this class.

Oh yes, I remember the rail now… but I wouldn’t have thought that would have dropped her all the way out. That mare was lovely

Yes. Great incentive for them to ensure their student’s participation.

Yes, I figured she was out of the top 4 after that but surprised she wasn’t top 12 unless there were also lead change issues that others mentioned.
