WOW ! As an old horse trainer from Missouri used to say " YOU DONE GOOD":D:cool:
I bought:
1 long-sleeve WEG T
2 WEG T-shirts
2 WEG polos
1 Jacket (not WEG)
1 WEG key chain
Then, I found out that Walgreen’s has official WEG gear (at about 1/2 price), and bought:
2 more WEG T-Shirts
1 WEG Hat
1 WEG Visor
Most were gifts. Yay for Walgreen’s!!
Oh, and a few packs of the “Official” WEG beer!
All I bought was a evening purse with foxhounds on it for Hunt ball purposes. I’m going back this weekend.
I here that the good shopping with all the usual Rolex vendors and more is at the downtown convention center.
It’s open 1PM to 9PM daily. I hope to get there this weekend.
Lots of shopping…
…and I just arrived on Monday!
My List for now is as follows:
Bit of Britan:
Horseware weatherproof jacket
gloves
Back on Track blanket
Saratoga Saddlery:
Joules polo
Ariat socks
Back on Track:
Hock wraps
NoBow wraps
Thinline:
Wool half Pad
Coth:
Pin
Bob Micklar’s:
WEG Ariat long sleeve tshirt
WEG Ariat short sleeve tshirt
Kentucky Horse Park Gift Shop:
Pin
2 crops/bats
Stubben:
spurs
…and one saddle pad, two polos and one breech from Equine Couture.
I better leave on Sat or I’ll have to file chapter 11!
People are definitely shopping, because the “shop tents” were very crowded.
At BoB, I bought two bits and a couple of key chains for gifts. I would have bought more there, but it was a zoo! The long line did move pretty quickly though, since they had a lot of cashiers.
I will be buying a custon saddle soon, so it was really nice to have so many saddle makers there. I will likely go with Devoucoux, but I’ll have Antares and County bring saddles out as well (although County was not at WEG, which surprised me).
A friend who was travelling with me bought me a really nice pair of Thinline reins to thank me for organizing the trip, which was completely unexpected and kind.
I bought a Tipperary Eventing vest, a WEG water bottle, a neat old silver coin from Austria with a horse on it, which I will put on a necklace, an Antares t-shirt they designed specifically for WEG, FITS long underwear that I wore under my jeans on Sunday because it was so cold; blanket which I also used during stadium jumping on Sunday, a COTH hard copy subscription, and a WEG t-shirt in French (I assume they had them in anticipation of the Normandy games in 2014).
I think my BO is gong to buy the mechanism that re-hydrates hay. That was very cool.
Also, I bought pair of Dubarry’s a couple of days before heading to WEG – one of the best things I have ever purchased. I wore them every day and my feet never hurt. Also, my feet weren’t hot on the warmer days, and they weren’t cold in the evenings and on Sunday. They are expensive, but worth it if you can splurge on them.
Is the usdf pavillion always there or is it part of WEG? I’ve already spent the past 2 weekends there, I can’t go back! Well, maybe ill push the chores back a few hours…
Wow. All I bought was a bottle of water and a diet pepsi for $6.75. I would have bought some pins, but they were sold out of eventing and the USA ones. Kinda dumb.

The USDF building is permanent.
WEG Shopping
We were at WEG for the XC on Saturday. The competition was great but shopping was not. Too much high end stuff with not enough bargains. I also missed the smaller vendors from Rolex.
Bought some WEG gear (shirts, hats, tote bag for trainer, $4 postcard of official WEG poster), both onsite and at Cracker Barrel(!). A pair of socks. Some cards, jewelry, and other gift items (including a chocolate bar to eat later in the day for $1.20) at the Kentucky Experience area. Talked to the GameReady people and got a demo. As far as the horse and horsepeople gear, we have pretty good access to stuff where I live, so I didn’t really feel the need. Offsite, I bought a Keenland sweatshirt and other stuff at their gift shop at the track and a hand broom at the Shaker Village.
The trick is not to get caught up in the mob mentality, at least WRT to the official WEG gear, as the vendors seem to get new supplies at least every few days and much (all?) of it is also available online.
I was unable to go to WEG but it sounds like a shopping dream. Is there an official WEG magnet that anyone saw? I’d love to get one for my collection. I looked on the website but couldn’t see one.
I know Equestrian Clinics offers to ship the DVDs to your home at no charge.
The ThinLine tent has their no-slip reins for $70. That was the only bargain I found.
Keep this going until end of games -want to here more of what people bought -where you can get it for a bargain -and what did they buy-
Well I’ve had a chance to do a little damage…went back and looked again and even though I managed to escape the first few days without buying I did end up getting a new pair of Dubarry boots and a cute Gersemi vest from Smartpak. I got a free, very nice Smartpak tote bag with purchase.
I also bought the Secretariat book by Kate Chenery Tweedy at the TRF booth and got it signed by Kate. She was very nice.
The only thing I purchased with a logo was a WEG baseball cap.
I also bought a scarf from LILO collections at BoB.
I drooled over the Animo Italia show coats. They are beautiful and totally washable. Also around $800. So, since I’m not really showing right now could not justify buying one, but they were flying off the shelves. As of today, that tent looked looted. Everything in that tent was amazing though and you can’t buy it anywhere in the US.
Did anyone buy anything from that Saratoga Saddlery place that was selling Joules polos and other jackets. I picked up a winter jacket that was $1399! Of course I put it back on the rack. And they had tons of jackets like it just hanging there on the racks.
So that was it for my shopping. I went into Lexington to Pinkstson’s and bought my personalized halter there :). Total for the halter $38.50. I love that place.
I tried to
I took the afternoon off to go shopping as I hadn’t had time when I was up there as yet. Unfortunately, I had little luck. Wanted one of the Stubben bridles on sale but they didn’t have the size, wanted schooling breeches but they didn’t have the size, wanted the horsie silly bands for my niece but none of the four gift shop booths I went to had them. I did get a couple of breyers Christmas ornaments.

MorganPony,I love that you can try some many saddles at one place.I sat in everything at World Cup.Let me know what you get;)[/QUOTE]
It was FABULOUS. I spent an hour+ walking the 20ft between Devocoux, CWD, & Antares. I think my final decision will ultimately be an Antares, but look for my posts in the H/J forum asking questions and for advice!
Shopping for a new saddle and had a wide range of experiences. Told each rep I was there to look at all the saddles, get measured for a saddle (my femur is l.o.n.g. and then would be making a decision. Had a pad of paper and pen in my hand. Here is the result.
Stubben is having 15% off, but I really could not get the guy to TALK to me in any specifics. Outta there. Had a used care salesman feel.
Tad Coffin rep at Dover spent 30 min with me talking about the mechanics of their saddles, answered all my questions, sat me in about 3 different saddles, explained the use of the different pads - did NOT talk down any other manufacturer. And, gave me the starting measurements for the saddle of choice and instructions on what and how to photograph the horse, etc. I will be demoing one of these after WEG.
Antares couldn’t be bothered. Asked where I was from (Midwest), sort of sniffed and had to be prodded to define the seat size and flap. Outta there.
Beval Butet actually had a rep from the factory who spent much time with me, talked about all the new changes that they had made to the saddles. Very nice and defined the type and measurements of the saddle I would need, but the saddle didn’t call to me.
Devacoux - by far the best experience. Greg first asked what I was riding, how I was riding and what my goals were. Discussed the different type of saddles, sat me in three different saddles and while each felt really good, the second was PERFECT! Sat down, found the sweet spot and immediately knew my position would be better. He even navigated the “does this saddle make my butt look big question” with aplomb - had to do with keeping a narrow twist and seat, or a narrow twist and a slightly wider seat. Had a knowledgeable discussion about flocking and then discussed the different types of leather. THIS will likely be the saddle I will purchase and have fitted to my horse, but the Tad Coffin representative did his job well and I’ll demo that as well so the horse gets the best for him.
Bit of Britain was phenomenal and all the staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Talked to the owner who was right in the midst of it all. He said he’d taken a huge risk given the price for the booths and shipping inventory over, but he is very pleased with the outcome.
I was disappointed in the shopping in the end. I bought two books at USDF’s store because the authors were there doing signings. I bought a pair of spurs at Stuebben that I do really like. I ended up with nothing WEG-specific, so I guess my ticket stubs will be my souveniers.
I was hoping to get a WEG saddle pad but it was a smallish AP pad, not going to work with my large dressage saddle. I wanted to get the Breyer blue WEG-only model, but it was sold out by Friday morning last week. The WEG store was mobbed - if you wanted a shirt or hat you could find something, but I couldn’t find a small trinket like a magnet.
I wanted to shop in the morning before the events started, but the vendors were lazy and half were still not open by 8:45. They were mobbed in between events. I finally had some breathing room after the stadium jumping on Sunday and was able to walk around, but unless you were shopping for something specific, I didn’t find much good browsing and things to buy that were in the $30 & under range.

I had a great experience at the Devoucoux tent as well with Eric. I am glad to hear you liked Greg, as he is the rep in my area, and who I will be working with. I am still going to have County come out as well, but I am definitely leaning towards the Devoucoux. When I sat in it at WEG, it just felt right. So as long as it works best for my horse, it will be the one.
Oh, I also found the people at the Antares tent very unhelpful – but to be fair it was very crowded and they appeared under-staffed. They just gave me the local rep’s card and siad to call him after WEG.
