WEG attendees,are you shopping?

I bought:

3 t-shirts and 2 sweatshirts (some for me, some for my daughter)
2 $15 saddle pads at BOB, one white and one teal
the eventing calendar at BOB
a pair of Tri-zone allsport boots at BOB (wonderful to see all the boot choices in person)
a pair of tredstep summer gloves (I hadn’t heard of them and I LOVE them)
A set of tiles hand painted with event horses that will end up in my new bathroom

Lots of very forgettable food.

My suitcase coming home weighed 45 lbs.

In addition, I discovered and tried on many things I will consider in the future.

I know now that I fit quite nicely in a size 7 Charles Owen helmet and a size M Charles Owen vest.

I know now why those Mountain Horse jackets are so cool.

Unfortunately, I learned that I would love a CWD saddle.

Got to touch and inspect a Micklem multibridle.

Got to feel leather from all kinds of bridles, when I next need one.

I got to see all kinds of horse boots which was nice, though with my current pony, I’m limited by size considerations.

There were lots of tall boot vendors there that would be great if I needed any of those.

Now we’re shopping!

Poltroon, where did you get your tiles?

Tiles were in the trade fair… a middleish aisle near Antares, I think. He’s got a huge mosaic wall out and there’s also some neat bronzes next to him.

He has ceramic paintings, mosaics, and then these small tiles. The small tiles were $26 each and there were something like 50 different designs, lots of different disciplines, breeds, at liberty, and cute foals.

His name is Richard Moss and the url is http://www.eofc.com

Link to tiles directly:

If you click through you can see all the eventing designs, for example.

My daughter picked out three that we’ll use as a progression across the wall.

Oh, I forgot to mention the 4 DVD set of the cross-country video for $25.

Who had the Micklem Bridles? I was thinking about picking up a competition bridle.

WALMART

I went to a Lexington Walmart which had FEI approved merchandise…t shirts for $15 etc. That’s where I got some souvenirs. For myself, a bag of chips and a Pepsi (not coke!) for $8.

DARN it! I ended up not buying any WEG merchandise since I was looking for a good deal. Didn’t seem to find any. But I didn’t even THINK to stop at Walgreen or Walmart. Had I only known yesterday.

Oh, does anyone think that there will be leftover WEG merchandise after the competition? If so, how would you find some deals?

Dover did. I’m not sure they had any for sale or if just on display.

I worked a booth and our breed demo for most of the time I was there so didn’t really get to casually shop but did get a few things.

Got an adorable rug from the rug shop- blue with a BOY jumping XC. For my son’s room. Also washable - so probably polyester but looks like a nice wool rug. Very economically priced.

I bought some Breyer’s for my daughter. Also bought several items from the TRF booth. They were mobbed at most times which was fabulous to see. Bought a cookbook that supports Central Baptist Hospital.

I didn’t have much patience for the serious horse stuff shopping. Mostly because I just didn’t have time. I am in the market for a new saddle - have decided to go with an Antares as they just started sponsoring a friend. It was nice to see their display.

I find I flucuate in mood from shopping for my home vs shopping for horse related items. I was in a home shopping mood it appears.

We also are considering building a new barn so I talked to those types of vendors.

The hay steamer was probably the best thing I saw in the whole place.

I grabbed the Herald Leader on my way out of town. There is an article mentioning that some of the vendors are very unhappy with the management and are considering sueing. They feel the park isn’t doing enough to direct people to the vending area. I found that to be a bit “out there”- seems to me like it’s in the center of everything. I certainly had no trouble finding it, and I never came in the main entrance. Actually I never had any trouble finding anything. I do think there are some seriously high end vendors who perhaps don’t particularly appeal to the basic American type psyche/horse person. I think that is evidenced when Bit of Britain is doing so well but if you sell 4 digit and up boots you are probably struggling a bit.

As mentioned in the other thread, I think the vendors suing thing is crap.

I bought several of the limited edition Breyer stuffies for the kids. I bought a pair of gloves at BoB in a lovely brown, an Ariat WEG 1/4 zip thing, a pendant, and a hat. Oh, and 2 books that I had been meaning to get anyway at the USDF headquarters.

Oh, and some bourbon, and some beer (all consumed on site!).

The vendor who have something that people actually want, are doing plenty of business. It’s right out there in the middle of it all.
