Don’t forget that this is the team who were doing their gallops with blankets on last year to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics! They take their fitness very seriously.
Noooooo Tom!
There went my Eventing Manager team.
Maybe it’s because it’s the middle of the night, but I’m a bit picky with the commentary around Mahalia’s fitness - basically, “she’s only 10, that’s not a lot of time to develop fitness” except Lordships Graffalo is 10 and was 7 seconds under. I guess it seems like a double standard and I think commentators should be reasonably neutral.
I am not enjoying Lucinda’s commentary. Seems like she should spend more time telling us what they have done. She is just a mess. But since my computer is freezing up, I can’t hear or see anyway.
I had to restart mine last night and that helped with my freezing. Hope you get it sorted before Lauren comes out!
I’m not a fan of her commentary either. Also sense a double standard!
They did also mention the young age when Lordships Graffalo ran, commenting that he and the other young horses wouldn’t have had the same years to build fitness, but also saying that could be tempered with ‘youthful enthusiasm and exuberance’ or something along those lines. Not sure that shows lack of neutrality, just an acceptance that it could go either way for the less experienced horses, as we’ve already seen.
Mmm, I missed that. Thanks! I heard singing praises for LG and what a superstar he was. Maybe I tuned out the other stuff
I hope Lauren and Bug do well so that may give Tamra a bit of freedom to push for a clear within the time, to be in position for a potential individual medal
Menlo Park’s dam, Faerie Queen, is a half sister to 5* horse Faerie Dazzler who produced 5* horses Faerie Dianimo and Xavier Faer. Super mare family.
Can’t wait to see Bug zip around this course!
Speaking of, they’re not showing up on the live stream or the SAP analytics map. Is that working for anyone else?
EDIT: Never mind they’re now on…
And all descending from the lovely little TB stallion Ben Fairie (b. 1968). Also such greats as Ginny Leng’s Priceless and Nightcap who were both by him.
My heart stopped for a second as Bug added a trot step at the water, but he’s just such an agile horse that he didn’t run out!
Calle 44 is looking quite tired with 5 minutes left…
A little bit of time for Lauren, but she’s home clear!!
in my smurf’s opinion, Calle 44 and London 52 were going down the slide after 7A with a very long rein and had a run out.
everyone who made it look easy, gathered up their reins quickly.
so bummed that we’re not seeing a lot of the US rider’s rounds. i feel like i saw two clips of Will and Lauren each!
Agree. I could have missed it but I didn’t hear the commentators even say Lauren made it home.
ETA: I’m so confused by Lucinda’s commentary. She’s all over the place. Clearly she is an expert at XC riding but the “play by play” is a tad scattered.
Lucinda’s commentary is getting redundant and annoying.
