William - update Monday 26Oct
26-October-2015

William has made progress over the weekend; today he is conscious, breathing alone and communicating with his family and doctors, however he is still very ill.

He and his family are very grateful for all the support and messages, it is hugely appreciated

Further progress is going to take time, so please continue to respect the family’s privacy.

VERY happy to see him moving in the right direction. Continued thoughts and prayers for him and his family.

Glad to see this. It sounds like he still has a very long road ahead of him and clearly this was a major TBI but it’s the first positive update we’ve heard. Hope things keep getting better and better for him!

Great news! One step forward. Definitely a long road to recovery, but at least there is a road!

I was so grateful to read that he was conscious! I know it’ll be a long road, and in many aspects the work is just starting but I was truly getting worried.

Jingling like mad for a full and speedy recovery

I am besides myself with happiness, what a relief, no matter how long the recovery.

Oh, I was hoping for better news, but must look on the bright side. Thank goodness he is awake and breathing on his own.

It sounds like a long road ahead, and I hope the masses of good wishes will help him heal.

Sending healing thoughts and strength to the Fox-Pitts, from Colorado.

Wonderful news! The journey of one thousand miles begins with a single step, as the saying goes, so it’s a relief to hear he’s conscious again.

It is a relief to hear he is conscious and communicating!!! Best wishes to him for a successful recovery.

First obstacle cleared.

He’s not one to not finish the course.

so glad to hear he is awake!! continued jingles and thoughts for him and his family…

Praise the Lord that he’s come this far. Jingles, good thoughts and prayers that the recovery goes well.

He was talking about retiring a couple of years ago. It may happen.

I hope he knows he has at least 2 continents of supporters wishing him a full and speedy recovery!

He talked about possibly retiring after the London Olympics and in that interview he gave as his reasons wanting to be able to spend more time with his children while they are young. He also mentioned the fact that he had not experienced any serious injury thus far as part of his reason for retiring sooner rather than later. Under the circumstances it would not surprise me if he were to retire, even if he is able to ride at the same level again. The plan was to train race horses, in particular steeplechasers, I think, after his eventing career was finished.

My sister had a cerebral bleed-not a TBI but rather an aneurism. She was in a coma for FOUR MONTHS. She spent many more months in a rehab hospital in Oxford followed by an assisted living home. After about 18 months of hard work, she moved home to care for her Parkinson’s stricken husband. A young friend of mine, age 19 at the time, fell from his skateboard and sustained a severe TBI. Comatose for over three months. He is now living alone and has a thriving glass blowing business. My point is that miraculous recovery can take place. My very best hopes and wishes go to Alice, William and the children. Come on back, WFP, come on back.
