What about Cesar?

Sounds like it, but he’s also still at least somewhat active in the US. My friend was sure they saw him judging at Devon last year when he was under his suspension, which is allowed (I’m pretty sure), but not exactly a great look to have a known abuser as a judge.

If Devon had Parra under contract before the abuse charges and the show was before he is tried, as is now, and the contract didn’t specify anything about this matter, then Devon’s hands may have been tied.

Categorically untrue that Parra was judging at Devon last year - or any year for that matter. He does not have a judges license. Even if he did, he is under suspension and therefore not allowed to judge any USEF or FEI competition.

These were the judges at DAD in 2024: Ulrike Nivelle(GER), Peter Storr(GBR), Heidi Berry(USA), Sandy Hotz(USA), Carlos Lopes(POR),
Marlena Gruca Rucinska(POL), Cesar Torrente(COL), Kristi Wysocki(USA), Omar Zayrik(MEX). In 2023, there was only one male judge - Cesar Torrente.

Thank you for clarifying this…I would have been shocked had he actually been there.

You and your friend are spreading disinformation. Please correct this.
Cesar Parra and Cesar Torrente are most definitely NOT the same person. SMH THIS is how stupid rumors start - people with a tiny nugget of info (in this case the same first name) and it grows legs. What is worse is that 3 people liked it rather than correct it.

I will let them know. Honestly, they are really active in the dressage scene and have been for years so typically trust what they tell me. I guess not any more.

Fact checking for things like this never hurts. But I understand the impulse to trust someone that hasn’t been (verified) incorrect before.

*you’re

Yep, it’s annoying, isn’t it? If you or the other poster were that bothered, flag the dang post for Pete’s sake. FWIW, the other poster who mentioned it was not even a bit polite imo.

WOW, but nothing surprises me now.

Nope - I was corrected. Not CP (see above).

came across this video of another trainer, a showjumper smacking his horse across the face with a helmet asking it “are you gunna respect me tonight”

Such a big, tough guy isn’t he. Harassing the whistleblower. People wonder why people don’t speak up!

What a flaming a***.

And what gets me, who is the farthest from a professional trainer than may be possible, is…what the ever loving h*** is this supposed to accomplish? That’s a bit facetious but how could ANYONE much less an animal respect that cretin now?

What a repulsive person! He should also be taken to task for taking a swing at that reporter/her mic. Clearly a man with zero impulse control, be it abusing animals or harassing women. It’s really alarming that he was seen outside the whistle blower’s home at night.

Everyone bookmark that news report as just one more example for the next time we have to deal with the ‘why didn’t they come forward sooner’ crowd.

For what it’s worth, the reporter touched him with the mic first, when he was clearly fleeing/retreating. I don’t like reporters running after people who are clearly not going to give a comment, that’s harassment too - all for a 20 second clip for the news.

Agreed that I don’t like reporters running after people, but I do not see that she touched him at all with the mic, just put it in front of his chest for her hoped-for response. He swatted it away. If I were his solicitor (which, never) I’d advise him not to swat/swing blindly at people like that while he’s up for abuse and harassment.

I stand by my opinion that he has zero impulse control.

That I don’t doubt. But if I was trying to run away and someone stuck something in front of me, 100% I’d swat it.

And if I were your solicitor - or even friend or advisor - I’d tell you never to blindly swat behind you like that as you have no idea what your aiming at, how close someone is behind you, what else is going on behind you, etc. Never. And if you were my client facing the charges he’s facing, I’d give you a proper dressing down about that behaviour and potentially seek to stop representing you if you couldn’t understand that.

Impulse control is always 100% the best choice. When you’re up for 2 different charges that involve violence and/or harassment, it’s the only choice.

He was swatting the mic from in front of him, in my view.

Nothing excuses the reporter touching him, with the mic or otherwise.
