What bloodlines specifically do you like to see in your TB sporthorse?
That mare has a lovely sport horse pedigree. She’s the type that should be used for breeding.
She’s a nice mare. I got her off the track as a charity case because I liked her type and pedigree. She’s turning out pretty nice. She’s for sale as I have too many…but I have a friend who basically wants her once her horse sells. She will event her first…and maybe breed her later;)

I may have this one too (sale prospect)…I thought her pedigree is interesting too but not what people around here would like. But damn…this mare can move and is absolutely stunning. The way she is put together…she should jump well too.

Eventer AJ, Mustanfar has a wonderful tail female line. So does Mizzen Mast. Height of Fashion was bred by QEII, and there is another line back there to Feola. Bustino was an excellent sire of chasers, and Busted (or Bustino) also stood for the Queen, IIRC. He has a double to Wild Risk through Vimy and Le Fabuleux. The mare has a female line to Wild Risk through Blushing Groom. So you have sex balanced top and bottom line breeding to one of the greatest sport horse lines in history.

But the Wild Risk triple also means that you MIGHT get the Blandford pasterns. Wild Risk had them and Le Fabuleux passed them on, so they occasionally show up through Gana Facil. Carson City is not one of the best Mr. Ps for sport, and we all know about the Mr. P legs.

The mare line itself is kind of “eh” on paper. But it does have the very good sport horse sire, Fire Dancer, down in the basement.

Golden Gams
One of the lines that shows up more in pedigrees posted here than one would ever expect is Stevward. I also like Neutron a lot; she was the dam of Court Harwell. Princess Roycraft was also the dam of Royal Roberto; Graustark is a pretty good sport horse sire, especially in Europe; and I have a very cute gelding with Proud Truth as damsire and a double to Graustark on the bottom. He’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and he can be difficult, but I attribute that my having outrageously spoiled him when he was a very sick weanling and two year old–and maybe the Seattle Slew.

I find the pedigree interesting with good sport horse potential in the genetics. I have to say that I’m becoming a big believer in Mr. P–or some Mr. Ps–for sport.

Graustark is a full brother to His Majesty (sire of Pleasant Colony). With the line breeding on the dam side I bet this one is a excellent producer of sport horses. I love the type and movement on that line!

For those of us who grew up on florida breds, we like to say that His Majesty is a full brother to Graustark.

Very interesting thread! I have spent several hours looking through the posts. I can say, I have learned a lot.
Here is my mare…

Can’t find any close up anymore…

been too long, but here’s my favorite… My best horse ever was by this stallion. He put his stamp on all his get. Very prepotent… and they all had the huge shoulder and wonderful forward stride… amazing movement! Most of the racers retired to easy farm life becasue the owner of the stud kept his horses…

I was lucky enough to get this one…

Has anyone seen Hansel turn up in sporthorse pedigrees? I ask for two reasons – one, when I visit him on pedigreequery and click on the little picture icon (the only picture I can find of him), I find him positively droolworthy.

And two, he is my lovely mare’s sire! Would love opinions on her pedigree in general, apart from Hansel.

Here are a couple of pedigrees of successful full TB sporthorses:

This one evented to Advanced and then went on to be a winning Grand Prix jumper

This one is currently competing at Advanced in Eventing

Other than the sire line, I am looking to see a pattern/trend/ or nicking.

I don’t know a whole lot about pedigrees, but…

My mare has some good stuff up close–Grey Dawn and Bupers/Double Jay. Beyond that… no clue.

The new guy has names I’m not very familiar with, but he does have Sir Ivor, who several people here have said they like. Is Prince John a good one?

My old guy is mostly names I’ve never heard.

My BO has this mare who came from Camelot. I’ve suggested she try to sell her as a broodmare, she’s a lovely mare with nice lines.

Lots of good names in there. Yes…Prince John is good…as is Deputy Commander. And I know a lot of people who love Mt. Livermore. I’m drawing a blank right now but I’m pretty sure he is the sire of a few UL sport horses.

Anybody have thoughts on Skywalker/Relaunch/In Reality for sport horse breeding?

LOVE Skywalker. Of course I’ve only known two by him…so take this for what it is worth. But loved them both. One of my alltime favorite horses was by him…just oozed class. Great mind, generous and fabulous jump. Was a stakes winner too (I think). Unfortunately, lost him to a injury and had to put him down at 7. One of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

Named “Touch’a Class” and he did have a lot of class.

This is the TB stallion (prospect) we bought last winter:
http://www.pedigreequery.com/challenged Before everyone screams about Unbridled Song, this horse has excellent conformation (nice pastern angles) and decent bone. Dam is by AP Indy and second dam is 1/2 sister to Cozzene.

the one that got away (still kicking myself)

I’m with DMK who is also a big Diplomat Way fan. I have a granddaughter of his (who also happens to have Bay Roland within the first 4 generations of her pedigree) who just is soooo consistent in her kids. Not only was she a fantastic jumper, but her kids all have the exact same scope and style that she did (as well as a love for it). Pretty excited as one of them just went to his first rated show today (after being started in Feb) and was first out of a large class in his Hopeful Hunter class and was 2nd/3rd in his two Baby Green classes. I fully credit the jump and the engine on this mare to DW.

I am surprised you are the only one to mention Danzig. I have liked what I have seen of his progeny and grand progeny. I have a grand daughter of his that is such a classic tb with good bone and is the bravest most level headed (though far far from easy) horse I have ever had.

http://www.pedigreequery.com/dash+valley her pedigree

Oh does anyone outside of the racing industry look at/care about the DP (dosage profile) on the pedigree?

I had a couple of FANTASTIC mares out of this stallion http://www.pedigreequery.com/roman+quest really wish I could get my hands on something like him to breed my above mare to!

My foundation broodmare: http://www.pedigreequery.com/aunt+jane2. Her granddaughters are carrying on her legacy. Two national champion Dutch hunter mares and the USDF national reserve champion 3 year material filly last year. Her great granddaughter was Champion Jumper foal at the DG Bar Dutch keuring last fall.

This mare produced 11 offspring that excelled in jumpers, hunters or dressage (to grand prix) depending on the stallion she was bred to. She always out produced herself.
