The best horse I’ve ever hunted was a mare. Nimble, quick, and scopey…for her 15.2H self! She’s 7/8 TB 1/8 QH, and for icing on the cake she’s even a red head!!!
I have two Irish Sport horses both from Ireland and a US TB. I like the ISH’s much better. I just got the TB so I can race him.
I am currently hunting a 9yo APHA gelding who has been just a blast to ride- really smart and careful with his feet but can be a bit of a spook. Also have hunted an 18hh ClydeX- awesome guy who’ll jump anything but at 18yo is starting into a more relaxed semi-retirement. Have also hunted another ClydeX, a TB mare and a Clyde/Hackney/Tb cross. I love the cross breds but have found they do run out of steam after a long fast day.
