What colors do we like on different colors of horses? (the thread where we show off our pretty horses in their pretty clothes)

What coat is this? Love it!

Are you riding in just a half pad?

I have a very forward flap custom saddle (primarily show eventing, but young one needs miles so will branch out into other rings), and finding a fitted pad to fit is a nightmare. Using a just a halfpad would simplify my life greatly…

Oh my! Your horse looks amazing ( and the show coat too!). If I recall this is your relatively new horse you shared earlier this year. You guys looks so great!!!
PS. I just ordered the last 2R rum raisin coat from SmartPak. I think it will look lovely on my grey horse.

I’m soooo happy that neutrals are starting to become more common in horse and rider apparel because I can’t stand the super bright colors lol. Unfortunately I have yet to actually buy anything matchy for my mare because we’ve been on a very tight budget since day 1 so a lot of my stuff was just acquired in whatever color it came in.

However something also happened to my brain when I bought a mare that made me become obsessed with pink… even though she is a BRIGHT very orangey, pumpkin-y chestnut lol. I dream of one day having a whole setup with white and very light pink and blingy accents for her, and I think if it’s light/muted enough it could honestly look pretty good on any horse.

I love the rose gold/champagne look that a lot of people are doing nowadays (to a certain extent), and I also think hunter green looks amazing on just about every horse.

I know someone who had a gorgeous set of tack and apparel that was all brown leather and navy blue fabric… so brown tall boots, brown everything tack, navy blue helmet, etc. It was soooo classy and gorgeous. Basically any nice combination of neutrals makes me swoon!

It’s this one : https://www.spurs.co.nz/estore/style/euro%20olympia.aspx

Yes! I know it’s out of fashion but I hate the feel of anything under my leg except the saddle flap.

I think it looks great, and certainly better than my not-fitted fitted pad!

Ooooh I’m jealous  I realize this makes me sound completely vapid, but looking at all these BEAUTIFUL Lemieux things makes me want a riding horse again so I can colour-coordinate the two of us :star_struck:

Thank you! Yes this is my baby horse whose first full year of showing was 2021. Unfortunately he’s broken at the moment and taking a gap year in 2022, so I console myself with looking at pictures!

Eh, I think we are allowed the occasional bit of vapidity!

I have a lovely barnmate who is the master of elegantly subtle matchy. She can ride beautifully too.

Today she had on Burgundy boots and matching helmet, a perfectly coordinated top, and the Equestrian Stockholm pinky grey breeches, with her (lovely dark bay) horse in the matching boots and bellboots, and a slightly lighter saddle pad with the pinky grey trim.

I felt like a bag lady.

HA! Last time I rode I had on blue breeches, a green sweatshirt, pink plaid gloves and my helmet is lilac! At least my vest, boots, and half chaps were black and my saddle pad was white.

I do make an attempt to match a bit when I have a lesson, etc. but day to day it is whatever works! My horse is a lovely dappled sooty palomino. His bridle does have a blingy browband. I figure anybody looking would just look at him!

oh hun if you’re going to be a lemiux queen you have to learn the correct colour names…that’s half the fun!

Let me guess…Dijon, Oak and Blackcurrant? LOL The Dijon Loire is TO DIE FOR.

My dad will be in the tack room and will go…oooo is that the paprika or the sorbet? I just die laughing.

Just be aware the Blackcurrant on their site currently is a different material than their usual suede and bamboo lined pads. They are OK but they aren’t as nice as the usual styles since those we a Black Friday special.

The oak is so tempting… but no. I shall not.

… but the vest has chest pockets hnnnngggggggggg

Isn’t their Oak Collection on sale at the moment?

:innocent:

Thanks for the warning! I saw that they looked different on the website, but didn’t know if the material was the same. I’m pretty sure I will still get it though; the color is so pretty.

They are still nice, I have a few of them haha

You could always go for neither elegant nor subtle matchy:

My goal is to not be shot during hunting season, but I was once told the fashion police may shoot me on principle…

I have the full-on blaze orange set somewhere for the very same reason. Those breeches are a bridge too far for me, though
