What do you like reading about in blogs? Edit: she's gone :'''(

Copying from my FB because I’m a crying mess and thus totally inarticulate.

Bringing things full circle, Nikki’s last class was a hunter derby, where she was the wonderful little lady that she’s always been. Definitely crying that it’s over, but so so grateful for 10 incredible years in the show ring and at home. Can’t wait to give this little Wondermare the retirement she deserves! Thanks to her whole team over the years…would have been nowhere without you all. I’m the luckiest kid to have had the ride on such an amazing mare.

Thank you, Nikki.

Emily, it has been such a pleasure watching your journey with Wondermare. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us. I love her sass after the last fence, as well as the last comment: “She makes me smile.”

So true!

How did you do the happy crying face?!?

Just click on the smiley icon and it’s in the second row.

Sad that you didn’t know, but happy I could help one of my COTH heroes.

Aw sad but congrats on 10 amazing years!

What are the plan for her future?

We are going to attempt ET (and have a stud picked out  ). My parents are buying a horse place in California, and Nikki will retire with them - and maybe when I’m out of school, it’ll be time for the next “moment” to step into the show ring.

Congrats on a great 10 years of showing on Nikki and thanks for sharing your journey with us!

The last blog is possibly going live on Wednesday next week. Featuring somewhere from 7-10 videos, a plethora of photos, and way too many words about the best little Wondermare.

Still working on processing that we’re done… keep watching videos from our last show and thinking of things that I need to fix for next time, before remembering that there isn’t a next time with her.

Can you tell us which stud you have picked???

I’m going to wait to share that at least until Nikki gets a repro exam to see if we have a shot at success.

Best wishes to you and Nikki. I will miss hearing about Wondermare. Hoping the ET is a go.

Okay friends, here we go. The last one. Thanks for coming on the trip with us.

Supershorty, you should’ve included a warning with your last blog. One that says:

“Fellow amateurs, do not read this at work, as you might get choked up and your voice might crack when your boss asks you a question”

Congrats and best wishes to you and Nikki. Hopefully baby fever is in the near future for you!!

The green thumb is not enough; thanks so much for sharing this journey with us. You are the sort of horseperson I wish I was.

It was so great to see all the videos, from the very first trial ride to the very last class. I hope she enjoys her retirement and you enjoy vet school. Maybe the next generation will be ready for you by the time you’re ready to show again.

That last picture says it all, doesn’t it? Best wishes to you both in these next chapters of your lives.

I had my last horse show with my horse this past weekend, so your blog hit me right in the heart today. I was doing well until you mentioned giving Nikki lots of kisses on the double whorls of her forehead, and then I started crying because my gelding has double whorls too. :frowning: Extraordinarily written and a lovely story- I wish you both nothing but the best!

I cried when you sent it to me last week to proof. I cried when I read it this morning. I’m crying right now reading this thread.

I am so grateful to have shared in your journey through COTH, and so glad to have become friends with you through this process. We should all be so lucky as your beautiful redheaded mare, to have someone to love us that much and care for us that much and to know when it’s time to be done and to let us live out our days happy and healthy and safe.

Teach them how to say goodbye. One last time.
