What horsey stuff is Santa bringing you?

Some of us dont have the latest smart phone, let alone the newest iphone! I have a less expensive phone and plan. Unfortunately it isnt compatible with Pivo. (and I am not fond of the pivo when you have to ride with others)

The video camera was around $200. It is easy to set up and to hook up to computer or TV to view. It doesnt get messed up by incoming calls and I dont worry about all the dirt so much.

I can see a phone on a tripod if you have a good spot for it. The gimble feature is useful if someone is holding it, but I dont usually have someone.

A month in Florida. T-minus 5 weeks until me and my mare leave this place behind for sunshine and palm trees and a month of training in Welly-world.

My new Arab got a dressage saddle. He’s supposed to be an endurance horse but he’s super fancy and told me that he wants to moonlight as a dressage pony

Well I’m still waiting on my new boots, so couldn’t resist the PSoS sale and bought two saddle pads, one with matching polos and a matching shirt for the other, plus a belt to hit the free shipping mark.

On a more practical note, I subsscto Ride iQ or a year on their black Friday sale and am finding it really useful, especially since I probably won’t see my coach until spring.

While not explicitly “horse stuff”, I received a set each of merino and silk base layers! And a super warm hat and mitt set! Very appropriate and much appreciated!

@outerbanks77, thanks for the Pivo suggestion. I read about it and it seems ideal, especially because Mr. Zuzu’s Petals came through with some lovely gifts but not a Handycam.

As for why anyone would want a Handycam or similar as opposed to another device, @steelerino, the Handycam is very easy to use and widely available and well-priced new, and a steal if secondhand. We’re both quite familiar with it, having used it for work, and love the simple monitor connectivity for viewing. I can ask a human operator to focus on something in particular and at the zoom level that interests me. And I’m not keen on exposing my phone to dust, etc., no matter how good the indoor footing seems. Phones get junked up with jeans lint as it is. I don’t want to know what an hour of tiny dirt particles would do.

What kind of a deal can be had on Black Friday? This seems to be another subscription worth looking into.

It was 30% off either a month or a year. I really like Jon Holling’s lessons in the app. The year cost about the same as two lessons, so I definitely think I’ll get my money’s worth out of it if I haven’t already.

I’d love to know the brand and your review once you’ve had a chance to test the base layers out!

I have the Smartwool merino and Land’s End silk. I really like them both. The wool is a bit warmer but the silk is lighter / less bulk. I dunno if the silk would be too slippery to try under breeches for riding, but they fit under breeches for me. I find both materials to be far more breathable than microfiber; no sweating if I got warmed up doing barn chores or worn in the house. Both brands seem true to size to me. Both materials are comfortable against my skin.
