What is a "403 Error"

Getting 403 error, cant post comments
Using Chrome, on Android

I’m getting it yesterday and today, trying to post a new thread. Very frustrating. I’ve logged out and back in, used a new page, etc. If @Moderator_1 ever got an answer for this, I hope it could get posted

Yep, me too – tried logging out and in, changed browsers, and still getting the same message…

I was able to post my topic from a different computer entirely, never could get my regular home computer (this one) to allow to post… replies are okay tho.

@TheJenners Have you tried clearing the cookies for the site from the computer having the issues?

Apologies for the inconvenience!

I have been struggling for the last 18 hours or so to reply in my own thread in Off Topic. I keep getting the 403 error. I’ve tried restarting, clearing cookies, a different browser, reseting my password…

I’ve sent in a report about the issue. Please let us know if there’s any change.

Thank you! It seems like there was one post that was causing my reply to to not go through. I was able to respond to the other posters once I dropped that one. Strange. :woman_shrugging:

I cannot reply in the sport horse breeding ‘25 foal thread. I have tried three days in a row with the same error. I only use my phone for COTH - not sure how to clear cookies on it?

Try posting that same post to this thread and let’s see if it works.

Sorry for the trouble!

I also got the error trying to post it here

So perhaps it’s the content of that post. Can you describe exactly what you’re trying to post?

@Arzny can you reply to Mod1. I would be interested in your answer

An update on my broodmare going to Lexington and that my other broodmare has been sold. It’s really benign, so I’m very confused! Don’t know why it would be flagged!

Based on what others have posted, there seems to be some sequence of characters that trigger the “403 Error.”

If you have the time, I would suggest an experiment. Post the first couple of words…and hit reply. If everything is ok, then go back to edit your post to add a few more words…save…then do it again…and again until you get the error.

When you get the error, modify the posting (like adding spaces or hyphens) so we know what triggered the error.

It was the words “update on my crew of two”

Hmmmm…Interesting. As they saying goes, “Enquiring minds want to know…” Do you know why you can post the words now without triggering the 403 error? Did you change anything?

I can only post those words if they’re in quotations

Ok, interesting…and above my pay-grade of techspeak. Maybe @Moderator_1 will enlighten us.

And to add to the techo puzzle, I could not tag Mod1 until I went back to edit this post. Nothing critical, but documenting for info.

Thanks for the help–I forwarded the thread to tech help to diagnose!
