What is the G-Line?
This is probably not too helpful but I have a similar question. I am considering leasing a broodmare if my 14 y.o. maiden has a problem catching. The brood mare has the sire Goldfuerst (oldenburg) and grandsire Goldstern (han). So I was also curious about the G line.

I did find some info on Goldfuerst on Huntington Farms in Vermont website, though I am not sure if this is the line you are intersted in.

Just as added info dam is Walzertraum dam sire is Wolfsburg.
I know a Goldfuerst gelding  He is a peach. And ginormous.

Are G lines known to be big?
I just spotted Grundstein in the dam line of Donner Bube up in Canada.

Wasn’t there Grundstein 1 and II?
Yes, and as I said in a previous post - Grundstein II was the damsire of Harlie Seifert’s five approved full brothers - Rubin Royal, Romanov, Rubin Action, Rubino Vincento, and Rumicello.

G-Line - GUNDI

It’s interesting to read everyone’s comments on this thread - thanks for that! particularly since I myself am an owner of a G-Line mare!!!

The girl has amazing jumping potential, unstoppable, brilliant technique and power. Though recently, and having read your comments it’s starting to make a bit more sense, we have observed her making much less progress than initially. She has not yet developed her full jumping potential but it seems as though we can’t take her to the next level :frowning: (she successfully competes in and up to 140 cm). We started all the work with her quite late, at the age of 5 and it has taken her a while to mature…

Because of this stagnation, I decided to give her a break from competition and breed her! I read your posts about the continuation of G-Line… what would you breed her to in order to continue the tradition and ensure performance for next generations?!:

We have had some rideability issues (not sure if it’s due to character or the late start in training) which we’re hoping to correct. The choice I’ve made for this breeding season is Lordanos playing more to the Ramiro Z in her - any comments, feedback on that?!

I welcome all of your comments as I am a real rookie when it comes to breeding!!!

THANKS!!!

I like your horse Ilka tu

Lordanos is a good choice.

You may also want to consider Goldfever.

Dan

Ilka Tu,
You are in Singapore with your horse?

What a gorgeous mare.

Thank you!

She’s in Poland - unfortunately I got sent with work far away from her :frowning:

But lately I’ve been spending all my time trying to find the right stallion to match her up with

Aren’t there forums like this based in Europe so you can get input from people who have seen the stallions firsthand?

My little G-line mare is line bred 3 times G-line. She is the most wonderful mare I have ever had the pleasure of being around. To me she has an other-world quality to her. She has the most intelligent eye, and a way about her that constantly surprises me.

I recently found out she had an OCD lesion in her stifle. There was always something just a tiny bit no right, but the vets told me I was crazy and always told me to just put her to work. Her temperament kept her going. Even when she said no, you only had to ask again. She never refused a jump. She had surgery in April and through her rehab she has been an angel. Stall rest, hand walking, medications, injections and never a need for sedatives!

She will be 7 years tomorrow (I bought her as a 4 year old) and I cherish every day I have her. definitely special bloodlines IMO if she is any sort of representative.

Oh and as far as size, mine is 15.1 and very typy, so they are not all big or ugly!

I have not come across one in Europe where people, who share a passion, also so effectively share their knowledge!!!

Re: Size, my Graf Genius boy is 15.3 7/8 - a carded small junior  So I consider his smaller size to be a plus, as he has an easy 14’ canter stride and the jump is consistently perfect.

General observation–Gotthard was a small horse, and the G line “generally” will produce short horses as a rule. They are not all short, but many are shorter than the average. 16 hands or slightly shorter is not unheard of, and that gene rests continually in there. So if you have a shorter mare with G blood, then you need to know this when selecting a mate for her.

bumping up this thread: a new mare just arrived at our barn: a Weinstein /Graphit /Gotthard mare…

She is the sweetest mare I’ve ever seen. Just plain lovely. Calm, quiet, no stress, nothing. She walked into the barn as if it was her home. I already have a Graf Top colt who recently sold but remains at our barn for the winter, and they both seems to be level headed horses, no stress, easy going personnality.

Me like it very much!

Goldfever?!

Has anyone used Goldfever?!

I hear he’s now available in Europe via fresh.

I absolutely adore that stallion

What type of mare would you use him for?!

I had always thought of them as tall, but that is because most of the ones I have interest in go back to Grande, many through Grundstein
Grundstein was 16.2H+ and his son Grusus seemed to throw tall. Goldkatze, Beste Gold’s dam was 17H and Best Gold is 17.3H. My Grusus daughter is 16.3H+.

Welcome S, a Grande grandson on the dam side is 17.1H (His sire, World Cup was 16.2 or 16.3)
My two babies by Welcome S and the Grusus daughter are tall and substantial. They will be at least 17H.

Glorioso Noir, a Grundstein Grandson on the damside, and a Gottard great grandson on the sire side is 17.1H

I just have to add my foundation mare is G-Line sired by Griseldi (Grosso z x Graphit) and out of a Larino/Gottlob. Well I guess this will make it easier

She is phenominal. She’s not super pretty or flashy. Doesn’t have a big trot or come right up to you in the pasture for love. She’s just a plain gold chestnut with a small star- but watch her free jump and you’ll DIE. She has a hind end to rival any Grand prix horse out there, past or present. She jumps like… well I can’t even describe it. It’s just Jaw-Dropping. We took her to a show one year with a couple months under saddle and put her in a little 3’0 jumper class, just for experience- She over jumped by two feet every time. She just launched, almost jumped a grand prix rider out of his seat. We had multiple offers to sell her, and a few free breeding offers by well known studs because of her prouduction record. And she prouduces very, very nice 100% premium foals in the US, Holland, and Germany. Given the oppertunity to buy another one just like her I would spend every penny and maybe sell a kidney:lol:.
I love the G-line!
Oh and she is the most comfortable ride ever…

I had a wonderful G line mare by Goldfinger. She was bred in Argentina. There are a lot of great G line horses coming from Argentina… they have a great breeding program down there.

How successful are Goldfuerst offspring?

Holy 5 year old thread necro!

Oh yes it is.
