Whether it is a new type or brand of cross country boots, stirrups, blankets, stud kit, watch or the like, what relatively new products have you found that are just awesome to have?
My RoadID bracelet. For some reason I was always forgetting my armband.
I also love my bracelet. My armband was always coming undone and sliding down my arm. The bracelet is so easy to wear that not only has it made XC more comfortable, it’s made me safer in that I wear it any time I hack off property. It includes my info and a different number to call for the horses.
I hate to be unoriginal, but I also love my bracelet. I was always forgetting my armband, to the point that I made note cards reminding myself to put it on and stuck them in various places - helmet bag, garment bag, etc. Now, I wear my Tagg Code 24/7 and never forget it. It is handy since I ride alone 99% of the time, trail ride a lot, and also have my medical allergy right there in general. (ETA: I will say my old armbands have come in handy for long formats though! I write all my endurance markers on a card and stick it in there to put on my arm since I wear long sleeves xc.)
Oh, and my BOT products. I love them for me and my horses!
Lots of other newish things I like, but none I’d say I can’t live without.
I always wear my RoadID bracelet. It is now my medical alert band too. I started wearing it for foxhunting and trail riding. The people I ride with know my name but wouldn’t know my emergency contact person and numbers. I do not hunt with my phone on me. Then I started to wear it while traveling for work. I figure it is a nice safety thing for the airport/hotel where nobody knows me. Then it occurred to me that while I am at a client’s office they my know my name they would need to call my work to find an emergency contact name/#.
I also have added RoadID to my phone and the front screen before any pass code had my 2 emergency contact names and numbers.
I love my RoadID bracelet too – I wear mine 24/7, because it is on my fitbit bracelet. It is a nice measure of security!
I got a RoadID that fits my fitbit. I love it.
So do you guys pays the 9.99 subscription? What do you put on the band?

I’ve had a RoadID bracelet for years. The company said that most healthy people do not need anything on the bracelet besides their name and the RoadID contact info. In my case, I added the one thing I think anyone “rescuing” me should know immediately, which is that I am a diabetic on an insulin pump.
wait - fill me in on this RoadID stuff - if I get this, do I not need to wear an armband?! I hate those things!
I am really loving my BOT Saddlepad… noticed a definite difference when I wasn’t really expecting any. Will be ordering some more shortly, maybe even thinking about getting a BOT quartersheet…
so the ride ID things are in place of the arm bands at shows? (New to eventing, used to dressage)
what would be the best looking option for dressage shows and workplaces?
yes, BOT is super nice. And Prolite half pads.
I love my Hyperkewel vest (wouldn’t work with a safety vest, but lovely for schooling and dressage shows).
Yes–the roadID replaces the arm band. You DO NOT need to pay for the subscription as long as you have all pertinent medical crap on there. I have 2 emergency contacts, my allergy, and relevant medical hx (for me, date of my last concussion). Some people have more complicated histories and probably need to pay for the subscription.
So the RoadID, you can just wear the wristband, no need for an arm band then?
I looked quickly on the site, and it has one like you mention- no subscription or anything?
SendenHorse, yes, you can wear an interactive wrist bracelet in place of the traditional armband if you wish on xc now. It must have a link or QR code for medical personnel to access your information online if not all of your info fits on the bracelet (that’s my understanding- rule gurus jump in?). Here’s a link to the Road ID website: http://www.roadid.com
I have the road ID elite in gray with the black faceplate- love it! I also have the Fitbit cuff that slides over my Charge HR, so I always have one or the other on. Both have my name, DOB (year only), spouses name and phone number, NO MED HX and NKA (no known allergies), as well as ORGAN DONOR on them- then the link to access my full history and other emergency numbers on the back. I had them for running before they changed the armband rules, and am glad I can just use one thing for all sports now!
I can’t think of any other things I really need, but I must say I do love my Ecogold eurofit saddle pad for cross country. I’d consider that a luxury though, not a must have.

Yes–if your info doesn’t fit, you have to have a place where it is accessible or “integrated into the bracelet.” Per EV113.6:
“Medical bracelets must be visible on the competitor’s wrist. Medical cards must include any relevant medical historym njury (particularly to the head), drug allergies and current medication. If wearing a medical bracelet, any relevant medical history, injury (particularly to the head) drug allergies and current medication must be included in the online medical form of the bracelet’s vendor website or integrally in the bracelet.”
Not really a need but a luxury – my FreeJump stirrups are far and away the nicest stirrups I have ever ridden in and have the benefit of being safe.
In the “it’s the little things” category…really like my SSG all weather gloves. So thin and cool in summer, nice rein feel while still being gloves. My preference is to ride with no gloves because I like to feel everything and a thick glove deadens some of the feel, so I spent a long time trying to find the least glove-like glove. I hate to use expensive thin leather ones on a daily basis so these are great.
Just ordered a BOT saddle pad, but really, a saddle that fits!
I really like my Equifit Gel Compression boots
No, they are not quite as good as Jacks or the good old Ice & Bucket, but they are very handy, and I have a method that works quite well. I freeze and put the gel pack in a cooler or a water bucket (its winter). The leg is wet, with compression they do a great job this way. I also put snow or very crushed ice in there w/o much compression after jumping. Again, great results. Better than the ice horse ones. Less Bulk so the horses less tempted to eat them too. Mine will rip the ice horse ones right off. A very worthwhile investment IMO. Take front tendon boots off post ride, reach in bucket or whatever and slap these right on. By the time I’m done untacking, grooming, putting stuff away these come off. Rinse & repeat.
The huge benefit of the Road ID bracelet is that you can put it on even before you leave home, so there’s no chance of forgetting it.

I’ll have to take a look at these - my other gloves are about to die. Personally, I love the Roeckle Solar Gloves for warm weather/riding outdoors. Yes, does help with “unsightly” tan lines, but they are very thin and grippy.
